It´s never too late to live in the present

Yvonnes house

A house is beginning to grow up around Yvonne.

The lines are made. It´s a big façade, I know, and her domicile will not be taking it all. There will be other apartments as well. I´ll devide the housings by numbers, but not yet. I´m not sure how much space she needs.

I´ve never drawn so many lines in a painting before. But I got good use of my experience from ancient times as a building tecnitian. Had to find my special rulers and scabelones. But it´s really difficult to make architectual drawings on a canvas!

Yvonnes world is developing in my mind as well. Little by little I learn more about her.

Status at the moment seems to be:

Her name is Yvonne.
She´s 36 years old.
She´s a single mom and has a daughter who´s nine years old.
Her daughters name is Claudia. Claudia is 9 years old.

Yvonnes job is to help ingeneurs work out manuals for all kinds of technical devises from the mass industry. She represents the users/customers and write the manuals in understandable languages for the common citizen.

Claudia is a silent child that solves puzzles. ALL kind of puzzles. She impressed a bunch of gypsies on a market in a small Bretonic village during the summer holiday. They presented her of cube-puzzeles and pyramidic woodpuzzeles that were new and never been solved by any of their customers. Claudia took them all apart inside minuts and left the grownups paralyzed!
Her dreams at night are clear as pieces of film. She remembers everything but hardly ever talks about it

That´s all I know, until now

I love the story, especially the bit about Claudia. The apartment block is looking good too!

Lois 22. December 2008, 20:53

This is a wonderful project! The story and the art are both amazing!

Babs 22. December 2008, 21:16

Hmmm...a silent whiz kid who masters complex puzzles with a mother who is...well, if you work with engineers creating manuals so the layperson can read them - You've got to pretty pretty intelligent! Love the story, Nic. Looking forward to the rest of it!

BTW - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Nicolas Borgsmidt 22. December 2008, 21:30

@ Adele
I´m glad you do Adele. When I started to think about Claudia, I got ideas for future paintings, so that´s great. Especially her ability to remember her dreams quite clearly, gives me an opportunity to use a lot of symbolism and surreal events P: Ít´ll be like taming wild hourses :left:

@ Lois
Thankyou thankyou. I´m thrilled that things are rolling now!!

PainterWoman 22. December 2008, 21:45

Interesting and very involved story Nic. I like how you are making up the story as you paint and, at the same time, getting more ideas.

I respect you for doing the architectural part. I have done very few and more than likely won't do it again. Of course, that's what I said about reptile skin. I did part of a python in one painting and said I'd never do it again. Then I did. But I'll do another python before I'll do any straight lines! Me and straight lines don't work well together. It's like math!

Nicolas Borgsmidt 22. December 2008, 22:18

@ Pam
It´s still very new to me..I mean..working like that..with an actual story behind the painting. And I don´t mind knowing more than I can possibly put in the painting

Hehe I know all about thinking that you´ll only use some technique or subject onece in a painting and then never again..but like you I´ve experienced that certin skills of your keeps coming back p: Well I see it as reaching down in a tool box and use what you´ve got  Helps keeping your feet on the ground

Stardancer 22. December 2008, 22:30

I love seeing this creative process of yours, Nic! Seeing the progress of the painting is fascinating.

Looking forward to more posts.

Nicolas Borgsmidt 22. December 2008, 22:57

@ Babs
Thanks Babs. I get more and more respect for these two individuals. The mother and her daughter. Yes you´re right; they´re definately intelligent ppl

Darko 22. December 2008, 23:13

Hmm, interesting story. Go on Nic, we are waiting for more

Nicolas Borgsmidt 22. December 2008, 23:26

@ Star

It might be a while before I make a post..about the painting, that is!

There´s a lot of raw painting to do now. I know there´s a lack of elements on the canvas BUT I´m dying to use some colours now

Babs 23. December 2008, 00:40

I love your sharing this process with us! I have a feeling it's going to be a wonderful painting when you're done! :coffee:

Allan 23. December 2008, 02:46

Maybe this Claudia girl is going to become the main character in your painting? It almost sounds like that.

These things happen, you know.

Shaunak De 23. December 2008, 04:06

A weaving a story and drawing a picture, all together ......
Now thats multitasking!

I am looking forward to the next bit of the story.... :coffee:

PS: Merry Christmas

Angeliki 23. December 2008, 05:36

I would like Yvonne to to have a few ME times.

As a single mom I kinda like her the most! She must be under stress from time to time...
ME time always helps and there you can squeez some wild thinking :D too!

I love the new project Nicolaki!!
as for the art,
It is a different, exciting, challenging form of art...

I was reading the other day an interview that Helen Fanning gave,
(she is an expert in the field ...),
by reading her enthousiasm made me step back and wonder the sleepless nights she had/has when she works in a new painting!
I know you enjoy it and that's the wonderful part of it!
thanks for sharing!!
I am looking forward to the next step!

Nicolas Borgsmidt 23. December 2008, 09:34

@ Babs
I hope so too. I´m afraid that the story is way ahead of the painting. Will take a period with only painting and not thinking too much :D

@ Allan
I afraid not Allan. I´ve decided to save her for a future painting. I don´t want her to steal the scene from Yvonne p:

@ Shaunak
Thanks, Hope I havn´t made things too complicated for myself :left:

@ Carol
Merry Christmas Carol

@ Angeliki
I think she has a lot of time for herself. She often wonders why her job and her life is so easy. She doesn´t need a lot of energy to produce the text for the manuals. Her only worry is her daughters long periods of silence..but Claudia doesn´t seem to suffer in any way

You´re right Angeliki. It´s very challenging, but I have to paint more now and think less..otherwise It´ll become a mine field rather than a mind field and I really don´t want that to happen :left:

Yeah..i love the nights of devotion to painting. It´s almost as good as making love or long nightly talks with my fiancé

Allan 23. December 2008, 09:45

Okay, I guess Claudia and I will have to settlle for that next painting then. You're the boss.

Nicolas Borgsmidt 23. December 2008, 09:54

Yeah, Thanks, you´re good with them youngsters Allan. Keep her occupied p:
Yvonne is just standing there, waiting. I have to do something about that house of hers

does Claudia, dear, wish to have a couple of youngsters over to play one afternoon? this mother sure could use a respite!

How ya doin, Nic.?!?! Happy new year. :hat:

PS impressive art

Nicolas Borgsmidt 30. December 2008, 15:56

Hi Jill. Happy new year. I´ve had the flu during christmas, but it seems to be retreating now

Claudia is a very introvert child. She´s a good listener though. Her increasing silence is beginning to worry her mom. Yvonne feels guilty, she´s not much of a talker either. Claudia does what she´s supposed to do...in school and at home..but in her own silent way.
I have a feeling that Claudia has´nt had friends over for some time. Another worrying matter for Yvonne!

In the area between fantasy and reality, Yvonne is going impatient on me. She wants me to work on the house and the surroundings in her world..but ive had a lot to do in the real world by cleaning and repairing stuff p:
But she looks a bit impatient, for sure :left:

studio41 30. December 2008, 21:07

I wonder what a house painting would look like if all of someone's artist friends could contribute one window into the 'village' so to speak... would be an interesting thing to see, after your masterpiece is completed.

Sorry to hear of your flu, My nephew traveled to London recently, and I wondered if a bug didn't come back here on him. His family was nasty sick, maybe the same flu?! Glad you are feeling better.

Nicolas Borgsmidt 30. December 2008, 21:57

Sounds like a funny idea Jill.

Well, the flu has been all around here too. My fiancé, my colleagues and friends have had it!

studio41 31. December 2008, 03:17

well, we'll hope for health in the new year, at any rate

Nicolas Borgsmidt 31. December 2008, 05:25

That´s for sure!

studio41 31. December 2008, 18:43

Babs 1. January 2009, 01:03

Best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year, Nic! Yvonne does look a bit impatient, but I see you've been working more on her story line. If, as you said, "her only worry is Claudia's silence," then maybe Claudia has a story to tell us too?

Lois 1. January 2009, 01:21

Happy New Year to you too!!!

PainterWoman 1. January 2009, 01:46

Have a great New Year 2009 Nic. Looking forward to seeing the progress of Yvonne. I'll be away for a few days so see you next week.
