What a pretty little thing. I've been seeing a lot of deer around here lately. Last week, I saw a still-spotted fawn off the shoulder of a main road in town, nonchalantly munching on the tender shoots of grass. Every once in a while, he would look up and watch the passing traffic, then go back to his evening meal.

It was almost as though he were sitting on his front porch, watching the world go by.

Nice shot, Nic.

Kimmie 17. August 2009, 20:20

Oh wow. You know, I don't think I've ever been lucky enough to personally see a deer. Wonderful creatures.

Darko 17. August 2009, 20:22

Nice surprise, at least for you :D

Adele 17. August 2009, 21:10

Yay! :D

She looks surprised. If only she knew that she was now on a blog with humans from around the world discussing her...

Nice "catch". Every time I've been in that situation standing face to face with a wild animal like that, I've felt shivers down my spine and the rest of the day has been very special.

I altso saw one on the way home from Nora, but it was running very confused around skipstrup station on the road, from one side 2 the other(railroad tracks on one side, road on the other, only 5-6 meters of hegde between them), i got very worried that it might be run over by cars, but at last it found its way to the fields, away from the road ! It was very clear that it was very young

San 17. August 2009, 22:04

Deer are very common here, but I still get excited when I see one.

So do I. In Denmark it varies from location to location. Some places, typically close to cities, deers and foxes are very tame and goes pretty close to humans, but in the woods and in the fields they get easily scared and runs

Nicolas Borgsmidt 18. August 2009, 08:55

The bucks (males) have big antlers at this time of year. There's a photo of one in my most blog post.
