It´s never too late to live in the present

Repetitions #3

FINALLY!!! I Don´t know why. But this painting took painfully long time. The things I wanted to learn seems to be working for me now...time to move on:D The dogma rules described in the post Repetitions #1 is still up. The last two pictures in the repetitions series will be under these rules...after that I´ll paint what the heck I want

Cool!

Nice colours and I love the sharp straight borders! Do you use either masking tape or masking fluid around the edges? I've tried masking tape but it ripped the page  and I forget what happened with the fluid.

I've seen it live, and it's 100cm x 100cm, pabha
Keep on puzzling Nic

Nicolas Borgsmidt 18. May 2007, 12:04

@ Adele
Yes:up: I´m glad you ask me that question, Adele:D No, I didn´t use masking tape. It´s all the Repetitions paintings is done in free hand with bruches and small foam rollers.
If you use masking in a painting while using acrylics you have to move the tape while the paint is still wet. I tried out using tape but quitted it because it stuck to my fingers and i got paint all over me :irked:¤#%&&%¤&#¤&#¤

@ Issy

@ Stormyr
Thanks

@ Pabha
Like Rune says. It´s 100 x 100 centimetres.

Attila 20. May 2007, 17:08

Nice painting!

I would have loved to see you try to use tape and get paint all over you. :D

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 17:35

Ah, now I know! It's your brain! Just colored...
Gratz with the member of the week thingie! You have deserved it!
I'm looking forward to when you get out of this puzzling painters block...
:headbang:

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 17:38

People drift out of your life
abducting you in parts
like music, like the wind
like sorrow
In deep nostalgia
you look back into the mirror
of the past that shows
you a younger person

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 17:39

Now, who wrote that?

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 17:43

I would have added... no, it's how you would like the world to be! Nice and orderly, but it isn't, and then you do this like a tic and call it practise! Like not stepping on the lines in the sidewalk...
Later: Looking at it again, it's better than a colored brain or a tic. There something Matisse about it... I love Matisse! And he was not orderly or was he?

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 17:45

Do something other and paint your beard in those colors! Yo!

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 18:25

Well, who would have thought that? I am actually spamming your blog!

David Blangstrup 20. May 2007, 18:34

...and I can't stop! They wrote: " When not at work he is occupied with activities due to a humble wish to be an artist (a painter, to be specific)."

WTF!?? You ARE an artist, and a good one, too!

Attila 20. May 2007, 18:37

To use a good old danish saying: Jeg tror du er gået i selvsving

Stomyr 20. May 2007, 18:47

Attila 20. May 2007, 18:49

I'm sorry Stomyr, I can't translate it, my dictionary can't help me out here. Perhaps one of the other Danes here can help

Stomyr 20. May 2007, 18:51

And what if it says : D**********n?
I'm sure , you know what you have written  p:

Attila 20. May 2007, 18:54

Stomyr you know me well enough to know that I would never write something like that!
It means something about him not being able to stop once he started... :D

Stomyr 20. May 2007, 19:08

Ha! I knew that you knew! :D
(Of course, I know, that you would never write that) (This was a "psychological attack" :D )

Nicolas Borgsmidt 21. May 2007, 08:52

Ahhh, like it:lol::lol: my post here has got it´s own life now..
welcome all:)

@ Attila
Oh, Í might bloc a pic, next time I´ve remowed the tape then:lol: David´s many words are internal hand outs...I´ve known him for many years:D

Stomyr 26. May 2007, 07:33

Nicolas Borgsmidt 28. May 2007, 17:22

Your tongue is just fine:) Remember to brush it too. I mean, with all that sugar you inhale. The pink surface may bleaque:D

Jonathan 28. May 2007, 21:46

Im impressed! Do you sell your work?

Jonathan 28. May 2007, 21:47

And how much? (Im sure there's a market for your art - also the abstract ones)

Nicolas Borgsmidt 29. May 2007, 09:55

OOOOOK ! Here it comes:) My old watercolour paintings I dont sell. The Abstract ones will be 10.000 a piece.Danish kroner, that is. And non-abstract ones will be from 15.000 and up:) They will be framed:)

Stomyr 29. May 2007, 12:24

Jonathan 30. May 2007, 15:49

IT SURELY ISN't WORTH THAT! :frown:

No, I'm just kidding. It's very nice indeed and the price is ok (I'm not an expert. Maybe I'll buy one - some day  But for now my economy stinks. Student-odeur

David Blangstrup 31. May 2007, 07:28

The poem was by your father, one verse/stanza (by memory) of "Meteorology of Aquaintances".

Nicolas Borgsmidt 31. May 2007, 09:36

@ David
Well..he said and wrote a lot!! :D

@ Jonathan
That´s the great thing in my life:D I don´t have to sell anything:) I´m still in love with the proces...communicating via art is perfect...selling is not important right now

ALLY G. 2. June 2007, 12:12

Wow, long time not seen your blog, Nicolas...
And another wow for your picture. I looks great.

A lot of work to do that. I wonder about the sharpness of the colour areas.

Nicolas Borgsmidt 2. June 2007, 13:31

@ Ally
In real life the colours are really sharp and bright:) But I had problems with the camera. Read areas did not come out too well, but it is fixed now

TANYA PILLAY 28. January 2008, 22:43

I like the attitude in the last line nic:up:lol  Well, just popped in to say that I've been motivated but moreso inspired by you in this facet. I've got two canvases ready. One a little a baby, and the other double its size but still small no less. I'm also deciding to do a series. But a set of three. Hehe, hope that you don't mind that I've decided to do that also.
