It´s never too late to live in the present

I´m ready

App. 3 weeks ago I finished painting my window frames. It´s such a nice thing to have done, before winther comes  The frames are now planed, adjusted, chemically protected against rot and painted with fat white paint p: :D furthermore I´ve greased the hinges with acid free fat in order to make
them run silently and smooooothly

Just look at these beauties above. It wasn´t the best of light, but I asure you they are bright and shiney
After finishing my windows I completely rearranged my painters corner. Everything is logisticly in its right place now.

As you can see, the canvas is grounded and flake white. Still nothing on it..but I´m ready. I got the flu some time ago and therefore the sketching has been lousy and blurring so I gave it up for some time. Concentrated on tea drinking and sleeping. Now I feel much better. I hope to be seriously sketching this weekend. I know what I want to paint but it has been a strain to put it on paper. Accuracy is a very important thing in this next painting.so...I really have to be focused and sharpe.

it's nice to see a man who can do things thoroughly. great job nic.
hey that's my mantra... only i say draw draw draw.
the reason for that is because then i can do what i try. right?

nopanic 16. October 2008, 20:25

I know you´re right Scott  BUT I´M VERY IMPATIENT NOW :bomb:
I must do something this weekend. I feel like a loaded gun

Your windows look great. Isn't it a great feeling to finish a hard household project? Some of them take forever. I recently took out a cinder block planter in front of my house. It was about 10 feet long and 18 inches high. I used a sledge hammer but I don't have the force I used to so I'd work on it a little every day. It took me a month. Then I realized there was a concrete footing all around where the cinder blocks were. After spending a week digging down and all around the footing, I have decided it is to deep and solid to break up so now I'm in the process of moving dirt around and I'm just leaving the footing as a concrete pathway. Don't know what else to do with it.

Your work space looks very neat and ready to go. You've got a great set up and good lighting.

gdare 16. October 2008, 21:05

Quiet little moments before a thunder, eh Nic?

nopanic 16. October 2008, 21:43

@ Pam
Thanks Pam. Yes it´s a wonderful feeling to have finished this. Have been waiting far too long
I´m afraid you have to leave the concrete footing alone and think of some alternative use of the area. I had to do that with a concrete foundation to a big antenna once! Dont you have a friend with an air hammer or something p:

@ Darko
That´s very well put Darko. I feel the rumble inside already

That scary, yet promising feeling of standing in front of a white canvas, sitting with a pen and an empty, white sheet of paper or staring at the computer screen focusing on the white space where a blog-entry is about to be formed.

Don't we all know it?

Challenging in a very different way than mending one's windows and preparing them for winter.

Juxtapositions in the way that the two sides of a coin together makes something of value. At least that's what I think.

gdare 16. October 2008, 21:57

I_ArtMan 16. October 2008, 22:27

yep, let it build up a little... then when it all comes out it feels better.

i have to plan a picture as big as that canvas.

momable 16. October 2008, 23:38

Get well and then everything will be easier.

Lovely work on your place.

nopanic 16. October 2008, 23:40

I´m not scared anymore Allan. I´m very content with the fact that I know now what I want to do. IF I can do it is another matter. Time will show  It must be some kind of masochism. It almost always feels like climbing a mountain..in the beginning of the proces

@ Scott
It has got to be some kind of controlled explotion this time p:
I hope the next painting will be more like telling a story than exploring something vague and blurry  It was great fun but I would like to control things a little bit more this time

PainterWoman 16. October 2008, 23:50

"It almost always feels like climbing a mountain..in the beginning of the proces"

I can certainly relate to that.

Yes, a friend named Jack Hammer would be nice. That sure would be handy wouldn't it?

nopanic 17. October 2008, 00:00

Well Pam, if some of it is above ground level still you could make a sculpture out of it...the concrete, that is :D

We just have to live with the fact that painting can be a tough job :left:

studio41 17. October 2008, 01:53

nopanic 18. October 2008, 02:12

 Jill it is  Thanks a lot Jill! After I joined opera and facebook I really have to remember a lot of names. It´s good mind training

studio41 18. October 2008, 03:11

In case you forget again, "Jack and Jill, went up a hill, to fetch a pail of water..."

But, then again, in our case it would be Joe and Jill... just more to confuse ya. If you forget, don't sweat it, I'll just remind ya.

BabyJay99 18. October 2008, 13:18

Take care and hope the virus will go away soon.

Cynthia23 18. October 2008, 14:21

Very happy, Nic, to read you are feeling better and your windows are ready for the weather changes.

SO happy to await for you to pull from the air another wonderful and moving glimpse of the world only a great artist can see, and you are a great artist.

Have a great day!
