It´s never too late to live in the present

Windows61

Lack of paint on my window frames has made the frames suck a lot of rainwater and because of that they´ve grown out op proportions. I could hardly open any of them. Had to use an electric planner to down size them again. Now they run smoothly  . Now I´m scraping and scraping and scraping loose paint of. Hope I can ground them and paint them and make a nice finish on them this weekend. It´s old coubled frames with single layer glas in every frame. When I really want to polish all the windows I have 62 surfaces to take care of :faint: But it´s amazing that the construction has an extremely high thermo value  My endwall is app. 75% glass and still I don´t have to turn a lot of heat on during winter. The apartment is warm enough

It´s nice to do something outside. The much work with my painting inside, made me smell like an old sofa :D

 smell like an old sofa ??
You are funny again!

Nicolaki
I am glad you are able to open/close them now...
it will be a long process to paint them but ,
it will be great for the years to come.
Their maintenance will save you money in the future!

the other thing,
I see you lost weight !
You are looking good my friend! the tango did you good!

The windows and door in my old apartment swelled in the rain too. One day I literally had to pry the door open. Very frustrating.

"made me smell like an old sofa"
I am wondering what kind of colors you are using for painting :eyes: P:

nopanic 12. September 2008, 06:25

@ Angeliki
You´re absolutely right Angeliki. In the long run I´ll save a lot of money, if I do a proper job now.´It´s going to take time. That´s for sure!! Nevertheless I´m glad I started.

...lost weight :eyes: I have to check that one out :left: I normally gain weight rapidly when I have a holiday!

@ Darko
Don´t worry son, I´m used to the chemicals :ko:

@ San
That´s why I´ve been workin so much in the appartment. Nothing worked...but it was a cheap condo. AND NOW..things are beginning to work  And I don´t want the craftmanship to die in me .. have to train that too p:
Luckily it´s very dry here now and quite warm too .. exellent weather for painting windows
Are there a lot to do at your new place San?

gdare 12. September 2008, 07:57

Only a few repairs here, but I rent the place. It's the landlord's responsibility.

nopanic 12. September 2008, 17:15

@ San
Ah, see. Thats fine

SittingFox 12. September 2008, 18:29

Chemicals? Er...you do wear a breathing mask as you paint, yes? :eyes:

RuneSB 12. September 2008, 19:08

 Keep on working them Nic !
:sherlock: (looking good mann!)

nopanic 12. September 2008, 19:41

@ Adele
I was just joking with Darko. Don´t worry Adele. Everything I use is strictly water based, no chemicals here

@ Rune
Thanks buddy. Hope to add paint tomorrow

gdare 12. September 2008, 19:52

No, you were not P:

nopanic 12. September 2008, 20:17

I give up  :D

ricewood 12. September 2008, 21:25

Good luck with the craftsmanship. It's the basics like this that's really important.

Never mind fast Internet connections and cable TV - if sewers, running water and basic building structures aren't what they should be, the rest doesn't matter.

nopanic 12. September 2008, 21:54

Hey young man. You´re up late again. Well it´s friday, after all p:

I´m with you in all you say about the matter Allan. The climate screen (roof, walls, outher doors and - windows) plus the foundation is the most important and where most maintaining is needed

wickedlizard 13. September 2008, 10:19

an old sofa???? i was wondering what that smell was... :left:  p:

nopanic 13. September 2008, 10:47

p: :D

momable 14. September 2008, 01:15

Any kind of painting is relaxing. I was waiting for cooler weather to paint, now I have torrential rain! Next dry day, I will be out there hot or cool...

nopanic 14. September 2008, 18:53

I painted a whole window section this afternoon  3 moore to go. I´ll do at least one more, next weekend!

Oh yeah. High air humidity is bad for painting :left:

wickedlizard 15. September 2008, 18:00

SqueakeyCat 8. December 2008, 01:17

enjoy the work.

but curiously, u say its an apartment. how can you have so many windows in an apartment? i only have 2 windows, the one in my living room and the one in my bedroom.

nopanic 8. December 2008, 12:39

Thats exactly why I bought the appartment. It has a LOT of windows. The endwalls, one facing the street and one facing the backyard are big columns and rows of windows. I need as much daylight as possible for my painting

SqueakeyCat 9. December 2008, 03:11

i am clostrophobic, and lately, these 2 windows i have, are NOT doing me any good. that is part of the reason i spent so much time in the hospital over the last several months.

nopanic 9. December 2008, 10:47

That´s so sad to hear. I wish some more light into your life

SqueakeyCat 9. December 2008, 22:10

ty,

only way of getting that though, is to move out, and can't afford that right now

nopanic 10. December 2008, 14:50

No..thought so :frown:

SqueakeyCat 10. December 2008, 15:22

its ok, i will survive another few years....been here 6 already

nopanic 10. December 2008, 17:58

That´s the spirit
