The Ev-Wii-where Challenge + Update!

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

UPDATE: The EvWiiwhere Album has been filled with the entries so far. Visit the album and use the star voting system at the bottom right corner of the images. You can submit entries here using the instructions below until the end of the global day, May 6th 2007. Then it will be all up to the votes in the remaining weeks of May.

PRIZES: What will the winners get? Since this is the internet and people can always find ways to cheat, the winners will be determined by the N+ Moderators who will take reader response, comments, and the star rating of each image into account, as well as the effort and creativity.

  • 1st Prize: A Nintendo DS lite!
  • 2nd Prize: A DS Browser!
  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th Prize: MyOpera goodies
If you have any questions after reading, please send me a message through MyOpera.

Wii has without a doubt captured the world's attention. From the predictions, to the breaking news, the surprises, features, style, size, and games, Wii has become a household name just as fast as 'Nintendo' did in the mid 80's.

Everywhere you turn, there's a commercial or store display. Every magazine cover is plastered with Wii news. Every store is trying to get you to trade in for Wii games. Every website's got a Wii news story almost daily. Wii is more than a success, it is a cultural phenomenon. Wii is everywhere. Well... almost. Let's have a little fun with the general public!

| Instruction Manual
  • Be an N+ Member. If you aren't, Join Now.
  • Take pictures of the word Wii spelled out in public. Don't just take a picure of the word; find it in unnatural places, or make it yourself out of things you found there (see my two glorious examples below).
  • Post each picture as blogs to your MyOpera blog.
  • Include one of the codes below in your EvWiiwhere posts by pasting it in before or after the image. (use tags like Nintendo, Wii, N+, and more to help others find them)
  • Come here, and post a comment with a link right back to your blog letting us and the world know to check it out.
  • N+ Moderators will 'farm' the images we find from our users, and put them all in a private gallery. The gallery will be unveiled after we gather a bunch of images at which point everyone will be able to vote, or support, their favorites by using the built in voting system (:star::star::star::star::star:) and comments... the more votes, the better... so tell your friends to join N+ and vote!

Or, for paste in:

| Examples
| Power Ups
  • If you make 5 seperate EvWiiwhere posts in your blog (with 5 comment links here), we'll do a blog post on N+ highlighting your submissions, and of course, link it back to your blog for extra attention.
  • We'll look at the voting results and determine some winners, too. Expect some Nintendo and Opera themed prizes.
  • The more entries we get, the more we're going to be able to give away. So go nuts!
  • When the world downloads the Opera Browser for Wii, they may just find you highlighted in MyOpera.

The whole point is to show off how creative you can be, what you can find out there, and what you can leave for other people to discover, and for us to be able to link back to our readers' blogs in great number for once. N+ is only the sum of it's parts and we want to show off your blogs for once. Come up with the best images, and let us boost your traffic!

This is what an EvWiiwhere post should look like!

| The Fine Print
Look how fine this is! Doted imagines Bob Saget yelling "There's Wii everywhere!!" Challenge Art created by Khadgar, go look at his kicky new blog design. Larger versions of the examples are stored here. Man I really hope there's no typo's in this post... Have some fun... and try to keep up with me! Challenge submissions should be posted within the deadline posted above, to celebrate the Opera Browser for Wii Final Version release.

Deadline Happen ... when?

Psst ... you spelled Saget wrong. p:

DotEd 4. April 2007, 04:47

Ha, well i made it that far with out a typo... that's good enough!
I'm still kinda out of breath from that post.

Khadgar 4. April 2007, 05:00

*is very excit.ed!*

seaempty 4. April 2007, 07:12

Bit of a poor effort (my office isn't very public!), but I couldn't resist...

Stationar-Wii

Furie 4. April 2007, 10:52

Excellent challenge. I've got a few ideas but may end up in a cell enacting them, plus I don't know where I can get a goat or a rabbi.

Any photos that seem to have penguins as well as Wii in are my fault.

Wii Smoke is a practice shot by a bleary eyed Furie. Not perfect, but a start.

Furie 4. April 2007, 15:47

Another one for ya right here. It's a Wii garden.

Spaggyj 4. April 2007, 15:47

Here's my contribution, PiiWii :D

G-off 4. April 2007, 17:57

1st contribution to this challenge: WiiD-R

Spaggyj 4. April 2007, 19:06

Entry number two - Wii Remote.

Furie 4. April 2007, 19:27

Ed, ya spelled Surprises wrong as well, up at the top.

TheLastSheikah 4. April 2007, 19:51

If I bought 50 cars, and spelled Wii out with them, would you promise to make me win?

Wait... I don't own any car shops... or have £50,000... I might have to make do with writing it on some walls or something. I had considered writing "Wii" out in braille (I've looked it up...) and doing a giant one of them somewhere. That'd probably be easier. Just get eigth of those big ring things.

airman360 4. April 2007, 19:58

Looky whats I got.
Will I wiin???

DotEd 4. April 2007, 22:22

remember ...going BIG, will have a big impact, and the more public (stores, malls, libraries) the funnier/better/cooler!

Furie 4. April 2007, 22:32

Got a big public one planned for tomorrow morning on our main road. Depending on the security you may see a JCB...

lutherjw 5. April 2007, 02:33

When is the deadline?

CaptainSeagull 5. April 2007, 04:30

ed, i know we want Wii everywhere, but if I do a huge "Nintendo Gamecube banner for the sculpure at my school can I share that with the class?

DotEd 5. April 2007, 13:06

yes, because that thing absolutely rules. however, you may just want to make that a seperate post entirely. but we can definately throw it in with the evWiiwhere image album

DotEd 5. April 2007, 13:09

lutherjw,

lets do this as a leadup to the Opera Browser for Wii, which launches this month. So, how about until the end of April?

Spaggyj 5. April 2007, 14:21

Entry number three, Not wiids

Spaggyj 5. April 2007, 14:26

Spaggyj 5. April 2007, 14:30

:D

Furie 5. April 2007, 14:35

Entry three for mii right here.

Furie 5. April 2007, 14:40

Entry four is part of the five a day program.

Furie 5. April 2007, 14:47

Submission 5 is right here folks.

Furie 5. April 2007, 14:56

And the last one for today is this building site facing the motorway access road. Couldn't get in to the equipment... This time.

DotEd 5. April 2007, 14:59

wow, guys this is going pretty awesome!
keep em coming!

I fixed a few typos, graciously pointed out by spelling enthusiast lutherjw and Furie.

also added that submissions should be posted within the month of April to coincide with the final release of the Opera Browser for Wii.

thanks guys!

Khadgar 8. April 2007, 00:51

Here's my first entry into this bag-o-fun.

Spaggyj 8. April 2007, 13:04

My greatest one yet - here .

Furie 8. April 2007, 13:18

We're back, baby. Did we manage to break into a building site and arrange the machines to spell Wii? Find out right here.

Furie 8. April 2007, 13:24

Also, I had a Wii flavoured breakfast today. Hmmm, never thought I'd say that.

Furie 9. April 2007, 15:54

Oooooh, just read about prizes. Send Kim's entries with mine to Nintendo and get us a Wii please. The minimum waiting list is a month round here and there's preorders backing up that to longer than 3 months.

If we can't get a Wii we'll settle for a Link outfit.

Spaggyj 9. April 2007, 20:40

Entry number seven right here .

Rivendale286 10. April 2007, 18:48

These were 'wet paint' signs underneath the University of Virginia Rotunda... Then a friend 'reappropriated' them... And this picture is from like 2 months ago; we were way ahead of you on public Wii signs...

Furie 11. April 2007, 00:28

Can't see anything on wiiwiiwii.blogspot.com yet. Amazing that this has been so well publicised already. We gotta do a big one now.

How about all N+ members meet up and rearrange Stone Henge to spell Wii?

DotEd 11. April 2007, 00:45

Khadgar 11. April 2007, 02:59

My 2nd Entry. After .Ed had fun at the PlayStation 3 section at his local Best Buy I had fun with Xbox 360 boxes and a paint marker at a store I'm not going to say the name of.

DotEd 11. April 2007, 03:57

JaJaWa 11. April 2007, 10:39

great idea guys! keep up the work!

DotEd 11. April 2007, 23:17

there are now 38 Nintendo/gaming websites linking here...

however, it seems some are either jealous that they don't have superfun contests... ever... or they don't like that MyOpera and N+ are getting a bazillion hits right now.

either way, i'm happy with the results, because nearly all of the sites support us, and that's the way things should be.

thanks again to all of the sites listed above, and the ones that i will continue to list, for supporting us, our members, MyOpera, and Nintendo.

things should always be fun
