Stille Nacht__Deutsch

1. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Alles schläft, Einsam wacht
Nur das traute heilige Paar.
Holder Knab' im lockigten Haar;
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

2. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Gottes Sohn, O! wie lacht
Lieb' aus Deinem göttlichen Mund,
Da schlägt uns die rettende Stund;
Jesus! in deiner Geburth!
Jesus! in deiner Geburth!

3. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Die der Welt Heil gebracht,
Aus des Himmels goldenen Höh'n
Uns der Gnaden Fülle läßt seh'n:
Jesum in Menschengestalt!
Jesum in Menschengestalt!

4. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Wo sich heut alle Macht
Väterlicher Liebe ergoß
Und als Bruder Huldvoll umschloß
Jesus die Völker der Welt!
Jesus die Völker der Welt!

5. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Lange schon uns bedacht,
Als der Herr vom Grimme befreyt,
In der Väter urgrauer Zeit
Aller Welt Schonung verhieß!
Aller Welt Schonung verhieß!

6. Stille Nacht! Heil'ge Nacht!
Hirten erst kundgemacht

Gay-phobia syndrome

With the day the connection between different people by the net expose progressively increase; however, there is no method detecting who is homosexual—even though some guys have impressing individual characters, but still, people cannot certainly indicate that he or she is homosexual. It is unusually to see a person hate a strange without talking to or even beholding them. Therefore, this phenomenon is really an interesting question about why many of the heterosexual is inclined to repel the homosexual without any contact to them. And the follows are some analysis about the popular attitude toward to the minority in this society.

A man said that when in adolescence, how eager for him wishing whomever told him,
“You are right, kid. You can grow up to be a doctor or a teacher just like anyone else. You are not crazy or sick or evil, you can succeed and be happy and find peace with friends—all kinds of friends—who do not give a damn who you go to bed with. Most of all, you can love and be loved, without hating yourself for it” (qtd. in Bull p.187).
The gay man early feels that he had been guilty because he loves the wrong gender conflicting to the traditional way—the so-called opposite-sex-attracting. Nonetheless, it is not that truth, everyone has his or her own freedom for loving—and should be neither condemned, inhibited or even suffer penalty by religion nor the society. Many people—especially men—fear gays may “molest” them when distracted. This problem is undeniable probably happening; but again, it is the same worrying problem the women have met—even the news about rape between opposite sex happens frequently nowadays.

Also, it is noticeable today now: many people oppose the same-sex marriage. The most popular argument for them opposing is querying about the growing environment is abnormal (Robinson). It is controversial about what are the normal marriage and the meaning of marriage. Some people may think that it is important as a result of it involves the problem of marriage. Again, why do some couples choose to marry whereas others do not (Badgett p.20)? Couples may decide to marry, and then, marriage matches their intentions about children and their beliefs about commitment and interdependence without conflicting with their beliefs about gender roles and the likely stable of their relationship (Badgett p.22). Thus, if the function of marriage just provide the people certain interdependence and somehow stable, it should be also apply to the same-sex marriage. Furthermore, the portion of divorce in opposite-gender couple is much higher than the same-sax couple (Robinson). An old Chinese saying is, “the thing we got more painstaking, the thing we cherish more.” It’s hard to find partner for gay, and it may increase the comparable stability within the gay marriage. It’s seems no reason for straight despise gay couple as the result of gay understand more with regard to how valuable the love is.

When someone acts or when something is described as so gay, always, or even usually, to anything remotely associated with same-sex sexuality, it will lead to isolate them who have not so strong masculinity (Savin p.5). The masculinity nowadays is controversial. A man’s behaviors or appearance can’t symbolize whether he is conscientious or not, and vice versa. The exactly determine the worth for living is the quantity of individual contributing toward the society—a general knowledge that teachers have told in elementary. Behaviors in men’s whole lifespan are required; compared to the sexual orientation is inborn, which may affect people’s orientation, but not all homosexual men show extremely feminine behavior as young boys (Swidey). Inasmuch as the sexual orientation is inborn—the majorly molecular technique nowadays indicate this evidence—, it is unfair for straight attack the civil rights for the homosexual owing to which are fundamental rights that government acts to protect citizens from the unlawful actions of others, including the government itself (qtd. in Carstensen).
The contempt against to the homosexual forming from the straight may result from the inborn doubt in mentality; become more negative concept toward gay owing to the news in television, but it’s hard to see the same occurrence contributed by straight and the news will emphasize the “gay”. And these kinds of news indirectly establish and deepen the bad impression of the gay groups to the public.

Last but not least, another major reason that triggers the heterosexual put detest against to the homosexual is somehow a kind of psychosis. Nowadays, there are two lessons to be learned here: first, some people take comfort from despising the gay community because it makes their own emotional baggage feel lighter, and secondly, It is human nature that most people need someone to look down upon so that they can feel good about themselves (Jakson, p.190). Although the gay-phobia is not the feeling that can be amended immediately, people should not attack the man who did not do any crimes just due to he is gay. The depreciations, condemns and even hostilities are all constructed on the nature phenomenon is heterosexual majority; nonetheless, it is not the time for people attacking a person who have different characteristic. After all, it is the diversity that makes the society more mercurial and flourishing.

The most classic characteristics symbolic of Taiwan

It’s seems to be a common sense that everyone in the world knows about the tea culture in Asia; nonetheless, they are not quite understand the greatest-quality Wu-long tea is produced from Taiwan. We Taiwanese are really proud of our ancestors breeding such a superb agriculture that can be exported to other countries and anticipate there’re more people around the world understand the culture of Taiwan—not only our high-quality agricultures but also our status in the world.

With the time flies, there are progressively youth favor the fast food from the West: coca-cola, French fries, hamburgers, etc. and start feeling that the condition about sipping tea is unfashionable as to avoid to give it a try. Generally, the differences exist in food culture between the west and the east affected by the local geography and climate granting the miscellaneous distinguished delicacies, dispersing around the whole world. On the other hand, we can enjoy these exotic delicacies with the development of traffic; and this is the very reason that triggered our teenagers enable to have more choices when choosing which to eat—commonly, they are inclined to the foreign food in the result of the mark of them sounds cool. Besides the cola, a sensational beverage named as “pearl milk tea” came to life and became famous within a short time; also known as “bubble tea”, it is a tea beverage which consists of iced or hot sweetened tea and milk. This common beverage is so popular that is on offer in many locations around the small island, such as nigh markets, teashops and even traditional teahouses; overwhelmed the myth about it is unfashionable to drink tea in 21 century, compared with the economical products that used to be the most critical agriculture export overseas and the favorable freshmen of our fathers or grandpas when chatting with neighbors in front of houses in 19 century. Taiwan has the reputation of being a tea drinker’s paradise where has the trademark of bubble teas more than just a new version of tea; they are also a revolutionary method of brewing tea: the end product is a result of combining traditional Chinese tea culture with the country’s modern culture, bridging the gap between the old and the new. Pearl milk tea kicked off a new era for cold tea drinks in Taiwan and introduced tea drinking to the younger generation and around the global world. To most outsiders, this refreshment is just a thirst-quenching drink that can be seen everywhere in this island; however, it not only represents a successful business idea but also a groundbreaking cultural innovation that deserves to be admired.

Compared the tea culture with Taiwan and England, the British are used to fermenting the tea completely unlike we Taiwanese drink the tea when it’s unfermented or half-fermented. In contrast with the tea time in England, brewing tea for our customs is the most essential courtesy and the most popular method to express welcome to them; by contrast, the British sip tea when they’re having dessert in the afternoon not for showing their hospitality to the visitors.

Apart from the tea compared with the other country, there’s one thing classified Taiwan with the others: the motorbikes, which is much more affordable and does not require a large parking space in Taiwan—the latter is the most important reason that why the motorbike can be so common here for the result of the density of population in the cities are so high that most of people can’t afford the expensive parking spend to support a limousine or even a compact. In addition, motorbikes have the same effect as cars; they can help people to arrive at their destination within in a shore time due to the roads in Taiwan are relatively small by the other countries’; therefore, it’s very convenient for people with this device than a compact. Nonetheless, it is not uncommon to see motorcycles zigzagging or weaving in and out of traffic contributed to high portion of accident in Taiwan and decreasing the security of pedestrians in the cities. This phenomenon always astonishes the foreigners and makes it as a symbol of Taiwan. Nowadays, people in Taiwan are highly dependent on motorbikes as a means of transportation and even the foreigners in Taiwan have motorbikes of their own!

Last but not least, I can’t agree more that only through travelling can we gain an in-depth understanding of how people in different cultures live. To understand the more details about how the plebs living in another lifestyle, the more our minds expand because of our traveling experiences. Take the motorbikes for example, if you have never been to Taiwan, then you must can’t experience the crowd of this devices on the road and how dangerous the traffic condition happen triggered off from the horrify motorbike riders. The most important of all, we can learn the drawbacks as well the advantages from different culture including ourselves’—that is to say that there’s no exactly perfect culture even ours; accordingly, there should not be existing any prejudice, subjectivity and ethnocentrism for us judging a lifestyle of one region which is the wisdom accumulated by generation to generation. Thus, there’s no supreme culture on the earth; on the contrary, there’s only the most adapted culture region by region; time by time and race by race.

My beloved great-grandmother--the essay about the Tomb-Sweeping festival

My great-grandma was born in the unstable time when Taiwan under the Japanese rule that many people in Taiwan were in the fear of the cruel and severe colonists. Situating in the threatening circumstances, citizen could do in the weekdays was to devote themselves to the orchards or the farmlands instead of criticizing the government. There’s no exception for my great-grandma, thus she labored in the farmland with her husband for the sake of bringing up my grandpa and paying for the expensive tax – a method that the colonists exploited innocent plebs. Nonetheless, some magnificent plans that the government implemented were worthwhile and praised: like the mandatory education. As a result, my great-grandma could read and speak Japanese but couldn’t read and even speak Chinese. After hard working for a long time, the Japanese were ultimately driven out of Taiwan and then a brand new era started.

Besides enjoying the relative freedom in Taiwan, she had to work hard as what she did under the rein of the Japanese and bring up her grandchildren! Selling a part of her farmlands to support the tuition of her four grandchildren, she maintained the whole household by herself after my great-grandpa passed away. What she worried about was the security of the four grandchildren and tried her best to make both ends meet in every month.
In normal condition, she could fully relax after her grandchildren had turned into adults. However, my great-grandma also brought me up because my parents were too busy to take care of me. I used to play with her in the park – to be honest, I ran and jumped surrounding her for her was too old to move energetically – and voraciously eat what she cook. In my opinion, the food she cooked was the most delicious and they can always sharply increase my appetite. Sleeping, playing and eating with her until I studied in elementary school, I can’t forget the days with her company contributed me to dream about her in everyday night for a long time. Although I was not living with her anymore, my mom would bring me to visit almost per week.

With the time flies, I couldn’t call on her as usual when studying in senior high school. I did extremely regret for my excuse that made me less take care of her in that very winter (year 2007). One day morning when I studied, a phone call I get tell me that my great-grandma was unconscious owing to the cerebrum paralyzed. The abrupt incident was completely stunned me and my whole family. Rushing to the hospital, I couldn’t help but silently rolling down my tears. I didn’t know this day would come so fast; albeit, I had known she would leave me alone some day. She tranquilly lay on the bed for approximately three weeks and then passed away with no words or testament at all. I did hate myself for I couldn’t stay with her in her last period in the world just like her accompanied me in my childhood. Looking on her cobweb-like wrinkles and grey hairs, I knew that each wrinkle and each piece of hair symbolized the difficulties she had solved and the heartbroken events she had met. My tear droplets like cascade fell down my eyelids, checks and lips out of control; consequently dropped on the coffin.

I love her and miss her so much. Not until I lost my great-grandma did I know how I love her. I should have paid more time accompanied her and chatted with her. Losing the opportunity to say “I love you, great-grandma” to her, I also eager to have a hug with her one more time. Nevertheless, the things that I want to do with her can’t be a dream comes true.

There were many unforgettable memories we had created in the past, and now, those good old things have been etched in my mind eternally. Just like many people said:” Those who were dead were not dead, they were just in our mind”. I should not let this painful memory keep albatross around my neck. Instead, I should learn to live independently and demonstrate my lively adolescence to my great-grandma, telling her: “I live well now and hope you too, great-grandma.”
