John Barry – Le Trou Noir ( The Black Hole ) OST
Thursday, 8. March 2007, 08:14:56
This Lp has a special story, where i found it and why i love it. Some people knows that i’m a special Barry addict. I’m collecting any records in any form all music composed by John Barry since years until now…And of course, among all, are the original LP’s. I saw the movie just more than a year ago and was hypnotized by the main recursive theme, a loop of deep strings. Very near to an other spacey score performed by Barry at the same period (1979) ; Moonraker. I really love titles like « six robots », the quintessence of Barry’s involvment into deep inspiration. Until now, i just had a poor 128kbps mono rip of this soundtrack. Because this is the only official LP that came out in 1979 through Walt Disney’s Buena Vista Record label and was never officialy reissued as vinyl LP or CD. Just 2 bootleg versions were in circulation, the first one paired with « The Last Valley » score but in mono ! The second one, an italian bootleg from 1999 paired with « Howard The Duck » also including tracks from « Star Crash » and « You Only Live Twice ».
Seems that Disney had problems with the copyright of « The Black Hole » soundtrack or lost the original masters ? Maybe it explains no official reissue of the score until …now ! Apple, i don’t know how, have the rights to a digital reissue only avalaible via Itunes ! More than a reason to rip this beautiful score in 256kbps with his related artwork. I’m just curious about a clean issue of this soundtrack cause my vinyl is sometime saturating.
Oh ! And for the story, i found this one in a vinyl shop near Lille, in France. It was a fabulous day ( the last week-end ) with 5 fabulous guys ! What a day, i swear ! ! So, this is especially dedicated to my friends Whoops, Agent-Double, Wesm, Manu & Calmos. BUGA ! ! !

Am I the only one who liked this movie? I saw it the day it came out and enjoyed it very much, especially the music, of course being by Messr. Barry.
Thanks a lot!

Awesome, thanks.
The music was the best thign about this film. The only good thing, really. Even at 14, I wanted to kill the "cute" robot and his "folksy" friend.

SUCH A HUGE FAN OF YOUR BLOG.
I was goin thru the posts and find myself yearning for the early albums posted here which have been posted on rapidshare.de and have been deleted.
Is there a possibility for a repostof these albums as and when u find time ?
I and many other 70's and funk enthusiasts would be deeply greatful.Cos we want more funk and more grooves from the early french records from J. Pierre is it ?
Thanks much for the shares.

I'll do a re-up of old stuff, but not soon, i've a lot to do with things outside this blog. Les Wanted 'New Times' is a J.C Pierric record, so i suggest you to ask him directly on his own blog.

I made it avalaible here with his 'agreement'.
I hope to post here more 70's french funk in the futur...
