your opera is now my opera

as a blind individual, i had a hell of a time setting up myOpera account, as one of the required fields contains a visual turing test, without a non-visual alternative... the good news is that in the near future, there will be an alternative to the visual CAPTCHA; the bad news, of course, is that i had to have a mate create an account for me... yes, absolute self-reliance is an illusion, but having to depend upon others to perform a task one is perfectly willing to undertake, undermines the autonomy that the internet ostensively offers everybody, something which i and other blind individuals have to surrender all too often in the "real" world... but i'm here now, and that's what really matters...

The visual turing test is nasty, not only for blind people, but also because it also tests user agent capabilities, and that pretty much is against the whole idea of a device independent web. And while many have suggested an audio-test in addition, I would feel as bad about that, as that also test user agent capabilities.
I think the code I have now is truly device independent, lets just hope it survives in the Real World... :-)

Anyway, welcome to the world of my.Opera - hopefully we will figure out and iron out a lot more accessibility kinks...
