Stories of my photos.

Dream and Reality...

All my friends know that photography is my favourite way to spend some time.
As I am starting to learn and I am at the very beginning of this adventure that is photography, sometime ago I decided to save some money and buy an inexpensive digital gear, keeping my old lenses from my analog gear.

The day I become a good photographer I will buy a proper camera, with one or two decent lenses.

But I keep wondering what would be like to shoot with this.

This costs as much as my car... :eyes:
It is also a lot faster then my car!!! So it is a dream. Maybe one day...

And although I'm perfectly aware that the camera doesn't make the photographer, I keep wondering... and I felt I had to do something. :furious:

There! It is done! I shot my own camera and now I don't feel so bad... They are almost similar, don't you think?

This is my reality. I'm happy with it. And I'm also learning a lot with it.

For now, this will do. Maybe one day... :D

I'll be seeing you!

Orlando, you are sure not alone with your dreams and reality   To tell the truth I've become a Canon fan, and my dream is some Canon DSLR... maybe D500 or even Mark II or III...

Zephirine 13. June 2009, 08:00

A dream.... yes, a dream....

MrLeffe 13. June 2009, 08:34

What would life be like without dreams. Very nice post

derspecht 14. June 2009, 21:04

Hi Orlando,

great idea! And a big dream you have! :D
I´d like to copy this idea and tell you about my dreams and cam in my blog! If you don´t mind!
Actually I am very happy with my Pentax K-m!

Orlando 14. June 2009, 22:18

@ Anna - I knew I was not alone in dreaming... :D And I wouldn't mind a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, either...

@ Zeffie - One day, Zeffie, one day... We all will be top photographers...

@ Leffe - You're so right, my friend. We need to dream! What would be your drem camera, Leffe :D

@ Swen - Thanks, my friend, and I would be happy if you do so! And I wouldn't mind a Pentax K20D, either...

MrLeffe 14. June 2009, 22:34

Well I had a major camera-crach the other week. I had to say good bye forever to my old camera. In the shop I found out I had very great big dreams :D :D :D. I ended up with a small nice realistic for the moment dream Canon. I am looking very much at Nikon and Sony. Some day the dream will come true.

Anna 15. June 2009, 05:42

I know for sure that I cannot afford a new cam for about a year. And in a year it won't be Mark III either
But you're perfectly right, it's not a camera that makes a photographer  so... my old fellow A620 is going to be a very close friend of mine   I'm not too good for a new cam yet. But I don't mind a good 400-500 mm lens at all... To shoot birds as Words
does is MY dream

Elias Yemreli 17. June 2009, 20:28

Hi Orlando, hi friends

My knowledge of photography is very rudimentary. So, I have a question! They say professional photographers use analog cameras. Is that right? And could you please explain the reason?

Thank you

derspecht 18. June 2009, 05:10

Well, i would say that is not right. There are a lot profs using digital cams.
In sports you see mostly photographers with digital cams.
The top cams from Canon and Nikon are pure professional. Even Olympus and Pentax are building cams for professionals.
The modern digicams are much faster, the photograph is able the send the pic immediately to the magazin.
Maybe in special areas, like studio or b&w, they uses mostly analog cams. But I think it is just a question of time and they all wil use digital cams.

Elias Yemreli 18. June 2009, 05:38

Hmm, I seeeeee  Still I know a few professionals who believe analog cameras are the best. Maybe they fit into their work.

Orlando 18. June 2009, 11:17

Elias , I agree with Swen. Except for specialized work, most of professional photography is already taken with digital cameras. The quality of a 10 or 12 mb camera is absolutely astonishing, nowadays. And top pro cams have around 24 or 25 mb, are full format 35mm cameras. Medium format cameras, like Hasselblad, have already digital backs, so studio work is done in digital.

Elias Yemreli 18. June 2009, 13:45

Thanks a lot for the information friends

Pablo 26. June 2009, 15:19

Hi Orlando!
You take excellent photos! What would you do with the first camera!?!?

But, as you say, both cameras look similar, yes. Mine is so so so simple, but I'm learning too to enjoy photography, the amateur way :D

Greetings!!

Orlando 1. July 2009, 23:39

Hi, Pablo!
Thank you for your support, my friend!
What would I do with a Nikon D3X ? Well, no better shots, for sure, since it wouldn't improve my technique... But it surely would be a motivation... :D
I shoot a lot with a little camera too; I use my D60 mostly on weekends and holidays.
And I learn too the amateur way  , the D60 is a simple beginners DSLR!!! :D

Pablo 2. July 2009, 02:16

I have an uncle with a Nikon, but I can't remember the model. I have used it sometimes, and it has great features.

I must tell I always thought you are more than an amateur, there are many pics in 365 with a high quality, sincerily!

Anyway, I'll respect your modesty p:

It's true that good instruments are good for motivation. If I had one, ... mmmm, well, I'll take with me with a face of "Hey, look at this great photographer"...

Anna 2. July 2009, 04:16

 You read in my head, Pablo!

Pablo 2. July 2009, 04:34

Maybe we have more than Internet conection

I was looking for a word to the last phrase: Is it right swashbuckling, in english? In Uruguay we call that people "pillado", "agrandado". My wife says I'm so "pillado" sometimes.

With that camera I would!!

You think Orlando is more than amateur photographer too?

Anna 2. July 2009, 07:02

For me ABSOLUTELY!!! He's a kind of my Guru in photography, since I was very much inspired by his photos when I was just beginning my 365 album  And besides he's the person that explained the meaning of the word "exposure" to me  So I certainly feel a lot about Orlando's works :D

derspecht 2. July 2009, 08:11

 you are right anna! I was amazed by his album, when I first saw the pics of 365. Of course there are a lot very good pics in the other albums, too. But it so sad
(or should I say irritating :irked: :irked: ) that he doesn´t upload to 365 in the last TWO MONTH!!

Anna 2. July 2009, 10:23

The rules say that the album should be deleted in such case...

Orlando 2. July 2009, 18:38

:eyes: :yikes: :insane:

derspecht 2. July 2009, 18:53

Anna 2. July 2009, 20:22

Ok, ok... Let it be alive! :wizard:

Seriously, I'm sure there's no such a hand that would dare to press delete Orlando's album even if he'll be missed for 3 months... It's just impossible!

Pablo 2. July 2009, 21:57

I'm agree. We need people like him, even to sontemplate "old" pics p:

MrLeffe 2. July 2009, 22:06

I do agree with Pablo and Anna :D :D :D
Swen that simley is very red

Pablo 3. July 2009, 02:41

Orlando: you have a crowd of fans p: !!

derspecht 3. July 2009, 07:55

No panic! :D
Nobody would blast Orlando´s album into oblivion! p:
There are to many great pics! But I wanted to wake him up and show the "sleeping beauty", that 365 needs his pics! :D :D :D :D

Anna 3. July 2009, 08:15

Pablo

Swen  I like the term "sleeping beauty" :D :D

Orlando 3. July 2009, 17:11

You guys make me ...

Orlando 3. July 2009, 17:15

... and just let me you!

Orlando 3. July 2009, 17:39

And that makes the decision I took even harder...
I have decided to suspend the activity in my 365 album, for now.
For me it is a very tough decision to take, but I just can't find the time to shoot daily with a minimum of quality. I have more than 4000 pics taken since April, and I still have to sort them, choose them and most of them are just rubbish!
I have too many things on my hands right now, and I just can't keep up with the 365 daily upload. I will try another album as soon as possible.
What I need is a 52 Group, instead of a 365...

derspecht 3. July 2009, 17:47

awww awww

Your album should never be deleted!!
why just upload once a week like other members of 365 do?

Orlando 3. July 2009, 18:01

My problem is not with the uploading, it's with the shooting. I have to think on what I'm shooting, and that takes time. A lot!
Or my pics will be below average, and that just won't do!

Orlando 3. July 2009, 18:16

... but before I suspend my album, I still have to upload the crappy shots I took and update the album. Darn!

Anna 3. July 2009, 18:20

:zip:

Pablo 4. July 2009, 00:17

awww awww awww
Don't leave us...

Orlando 5. July 2009, 14:19

You guys are really good friends!!!
Well, April is uploaded. Let us see how May will turn out...

Pablo 5. July 2009, 16:00

You are a nice guy! That's seen even from far away, my friend!
