Hi John,

I just read your "Overton Window" section. It's a good grouping of links from both end of the current notion of the spectrum. It's what I've been calling for some time now the false spectrum. It consists of a false dichotomy deliberately designed to avoid real Christianity. I make the case throughout the Real Liberal Christian Church site, but especially in, "There is No Such Thing as a Conservative-Republican Christian: Jesus is a small-c communist."

I've been thinking about what moves people, since people haven't been moved to help yet with the Christian Commons Project http://www.realliberalchristianchurch.org/wordpress/?p=1030. While the Overton approach is one theory, the shock treatment is another. The Nazis sure shocked the Jews for instance, hence the Jews motto of "Never again." Look at how different they are from how they were before WWII.

Well, when the food shortages become worse and other terrible things continue happening that are more violent and more often than in previous history, people will be moved to question why. We saw some of that with 9/11 and then with the Iraq invasion. We've seen little bits of it with all the little diseases that keep popping up such as with the bees and bats and the tree infestations and the list goes on and on. We saw it when the weather started becoming more surprising to most. The hurricane season of 2004 really surprised many.

They will be wanting solutions and to be saved from it all. Emotions will be heightened. The Spirit will move people. Then, the contrasts will be at their greatest between what is right versus wrong. Choice will not be optional. Everyone will have to choose one way or the other. There will be no fence-sitters. Those who choose correctly (unselfishness and service as the least) will reap that real food. Those who don't choose correctly (continued greed, violence, and other harmful attitudes and behaviors) will reap the tares unfit for life.

Of course, I'm using proverbial terms, but the translation isn't lost on those who are headed in the right direction.

Thanks for encouraging me to visit the links. They help refresh me on some of my earlier thought processes.
