rotten apples, lies, doublestandards
So apparently Apple has been biting at Microsoft because of some factual erros in their marketing videos:
http://www.betanews.com/article/Microsoft-Laptop-Hunters-ad-gets-changed-at-Apples-behest/1248451097Wonder when Apple will follow that standard themselves?
From:
http://www.apple.com/safari/features.html"Safari was the first browser to let you organize tabs by dragging and dropping."
Sorry but this we did like 30 years before Safari was more than a hike in the bush.....

unite, damer, apache
Hey
So today we released Unite as ya'll probably noticed. We have been working on this for more than 3 days to put it that way ;-)
Does anyone have any cool ideas for services that can be developed? Anyone planning to make some themselves?
You will see updates on the existing services from us and also new ones, but I think it's interesting to see what the community can come up with :-)

opera, turbo, asl?, fast
So today we released a labs release of Opera Turbo
http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2009/03/13/opera-turbo-labs-releasehttp://labs.opera.com/news/2009/03/13/So when do you want Turbo?
Right now I do not need it.. Why? Well because my network connection @work is pritty good..
But last year I traveled around around in India and boy trust me I wish i had Turbo at hand back then..
Also the year before when I traveled to Thailand/Cambodia/Malaysia... Turbo is excellent when the connection is slow as sheize..
So who else would benefit fro Turbo?
Well.. What if you are on a laptop using a mobile connection? You could spare a lot of money..
So... Please test it out and remember:
How to test Opera Turbo
Not on a slow connection or out in the outback? You can still pretend to be by emulating slow network speeds following these steps:
Windows
Download and install NetLimiter 2 Pro
Run NetLimiter 2
Set the Units on the top right to KB (kilobyte)
Double-click on the Incoming limit for your user and set to “100”
Check the Limit box next to the “100”
Open Opera and enable Turbo.
Mac
Open the Terminal and type: sudo ipfw pipe 1 config bw 100KByte/s
Then type: sudo ipfw add 1 pipe 1 src-port 80
To remove the bandwidth limitation type: sudo ipfw delete 1

damer
Basically we found a way to make extra $$. Remove something that will make a group of users scream out loud then offer the poor guys working in frontline some money to put it back so they wont be slapped by the users for too long. So Håvard offered us some cash to put back the viewbar (disabled by default, but available in the appearance dialog) and also to offer the old keyboard shortcuts in the keyboard setup dialog.
We will make changes later on that people won't like. Especially when we are broke and need more money from Håvard :-p

So it seems Alastor
http://www.avencius.nl/?q=node/597Alastor tagged me and I have to make a post about my top 5 feature wishes for opera.
I must admit this is not easy for me as I never have the "user mind" when I use Opera.. I always look for bugs. That might reflect my choices a bit :-)
1.Automatic crash reporting
2.Developer tools
3.Auto update and auto install of plugins ondemand
4.Updated GUI
5.Improved import/export of settings
So my turn to tag folks:

As alot of users keep stumbling over the examples that gives you a nice button saying you need to get the beta of the plugin I uploaded a example:
