Safari blazingly fast?

, , , ...

First I want to congratulate Apple and their 1 class marketing wizard guru Steve Jobs that could probably sell sand to people living in inner Tchad on the Beta release of Safari on windows
First they claim they are the first to make a fullfledged browser on a phone. Well ya'll know thats far from true..
But he says so so it must be true..
Then they release Safari on Windows.. Something I think is good.. Safari is very good at standards and very cooperative when it comes to OTW :-)

Now regarding speed, Jobs presented a quick Ibench test and everyone was just wooow... They are soo fast..
And yes.. They are really fast in web content presenting the past according to the Benchmark..
Maybe about time Web 2.0 enters apple's HQ?
Web pages are no longer just tables+images and some text. Now you got heavy interaction with tons of "Ajax"

Enough rant about skewed reality: Ibench+Safari+numbers=inaccurate..
Wanna know why? Read on here:

Some pictures from Paris

http://my.opera.com/olli/albums/show.dml?id=277156

I should have taken more pictures, but forgot my camera so had to use my SE k800i :-)

Paris

Most of the Desktop Team went to the Netherlands.. I was not able to join as I already had planned a trip to Paris with my gf, a friend and his gf.. Well it ended up being only me and my gf as my friends mother became sick..
Now we have been here since thursday and only had one day of sun.. It has been raining raining and raining :-(

We have seen the attractions all tourist have to see when in Paris: La Fayette, Zara, H&M and Au Printemps..

Oh we also saw the minor attractions like The Eiffel Tower ( I was supriced to see it was not made of elefant bones btw), The Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame (The Hunchback was not available for pictures, but we had a chat about war, peace etc.. He was actually a very nice guy), sacre coeur etc..

I gotta say I really like this small town.. but next time I come here I really hope I get more sun as I like to walk around in parks etc...

One thing that strikes me as weird when walking down champs elysees hours after it stopped raining the other day some people were still using the umbrella... It just looked weird as it wasnt just one or two it was like .. plenty...

Will see if I can upload pictures tomorrow...

For the Vista users out there this means the Netscape Plugin version of Windows Media Player 11 will work.
It's linked to from the desktopteam blog :-)

We are working on more Microsoft Evil plugin support regarding SilverBite :-)

Silverlight the new flash killer?

, , , ...

Oki so flash is evil we all know that, and now Microsoft will pollute us even more with a new flashy thing:

http://news.com.com/Microsoft+sheds+light+on+Flash+rival/2100-1012_3-6176022.html?tag=nefd.lede

Why can't people just use svg+canvas+videoelement+audioelement etc? :-p

So who do you think will conqueror (contaminate the most) da wold width web?

Spring is in the air

But not here. Oslo here i come. Have now spent a week in frostyland. Will be good to be back in oslo later today :-)

Baaad travel karma

So as I told ya'll the trip to Vietnam was cancelled, went to Malaysia instead. We just decided to stay some days in Kuala Lumpur.
We did not do much there except walk around shops, go to waterpark thingy and I got myself a nice surn burn... Dude I never learn.. Well anyways I will atleast end up with some color.
After Kuala Lumpur we went to Chian May to go on trekking... We joined 8 others in a trekking group.. Met some interesting folks from England, Netherlands and Sweden.. Oh and our crazy White Karen guides... The walk was hard the first day.. I'm soo out of shape it's just embarassing..The nights were hellish.. I went to Thailand to freeze my butt of.. Well was worth the money..
Our plan after going on trekking was to spend the last week in a very expenvice bungalow in Ko Tao... This was supposed to be the resting part of the trip.. Yeah was supposed to.. When we arrived at the Banbgkok Airport which has now become my second home my gf had received a mail from the resort.. Apparently there was a problem with the swimming pool attached to the bungalow and they had no spare Bungalows. So we were on the way to relaxation and snorkeling in heaven and was excited, but then just angry.. They were not very helpful and we just cancelled the order and being soo tired of stressing with travelling more we just found a expensive place in Ko Samui... I really hope we can survive the charted island... Atleast we got a hotel abit outside the most busy places..

Hope to upload tons of pictures when I'm back.. Sadly we are not too good at taking pictures and don't think we remembered to take any in Kuala Lumpur..

Unexpected change in travel plans

We left from Cambodia to Bangkok today to continue to Hanoi, but when checking in I found out I did need a visa for Vietnam.. The Vietnamese changed the rules for Scandinavians a couple of months ago so norwegians, danes, swedes does not need a visa if they stay under 14 days. Usually the same visa rules apply for Icelanders as for the Scandinavian countries so I called the Vietnamese embassy in Copenhagen and asked them before I left to Asia. I was told that was not a problem... I'm now learning this was a problem.. So while I was supposed to be in Hanoi now I'm instead in Kualalumpur. The nice folks at AirAsia got our ticket bocket over and we got to travel to Malaysia instead.. They were very helpful and not sure they were obliged to help as this was not their fault... Anyways we were trying to book in to Hanoi flight at 16.30.. At 17.00 we were instead booking to Kualalumpur which left of at 18.00.... Before the planned flight to Hanoi.. This meant stresstime.. We did manage to get to the flight intime though.. Now we found out we were leaving to a new country that we didn't plan to and nothing was arranged at all. We came to the ariport with our lugage and went straight to the kisok to buy a Malaysia lonely planet book... Now we are cancelling our tour to Halong bay and trying to get some new plans.. Might take a trip to Lankawi.. Not sure.. We found a hotel quick here, and we should have spent more time.. jeezus the quality of the room was as bad as the streets in Cambodia where everyone just throws the garbage all over the place...

Anyways guys.. new weekly soon?
Still 2+ weeks of vacation and some stops to internet cafees when bored..

Going on vacation

, , , ...

So I'm leaving in 1 hour or so.. Going away from this bizarre boring weather in Norway.
Me and my gf (No she does not only exist in my head) have a busy itinerary.
First we are flying to Bangkok, will stay there for acouple of days. Then we fly to Cambodia and visit Angkor Vat for some days. Then we head down to sihanoukville to relax for some days.. Then we fly from Phnom Penh to Bangkok just to fly up to Hanoi again. We will stay a couple of days in Hanoi then see Halong Bay for a couple of weeks before we head back to Thailand, The last part is not fully planned, but we might take a 2-3 days trip to Chiang before ending our trip on Ko Thao just relaxing.. We are going to travel for 4 weeks and I'm just looking forward to the hete :-p

Seems like our neighbors are tired of us playing Beethoven too loud every day :-p

God grunn til ikke å lage dårlige websider
