In today moldova, the population was 99% moldovan (foreigners inhabitted only in towns, very small at the time) Russia took today moldova in 1812.
the president voronin (which mandate expires these days) is a police general in the russian police, his real name is pure romanian, when he speaks his moldovan language he speaks in fact an extremely good literary romanian.
