Gettin-out-of-shell

over a cup of coffee...

Tonight, I am in the mood for writing...some mixed emotion I just suddenly felt. As time passes, being swept away by busy and stressful life, I have forgotten that my loved ones and relatives are on the edge of old age and that I should have some time talking with them, listening to them, sharing things with them, treasuring beautiful moments in life with them. I was born and have lived in the same place, around is all my relatives. We have lived together so long that in my eyes, all my uncles and aunts are still as young as they used to be 20 years ago. This morning, being in the hospital with an aunt of mine, I noticed some wrinkles on her face, the salt-and-pepper hair all of which remind me of her old age. And her husband too. He has been ill for some days, and those days has taken all his strength away. His lips are so dried that even blood was found there. He shakily took steps by steps, even could not take his scooter out of the house. I just got shocked when realized that they are no longer be in the ages of 30 & 40 any more and that now they are in mid 50. One relative that I call "grandfather", once being an "iron" man, who used to ride bike from home to our town which is over 30 km away is now in the age of 80. Seeing him walking with the aid of stick while the back bent down close to ground, I knew he would not being around with us for long. Time passes, awaits no one. It just selfishly does as it wants. Thinking of me, I feel kind of scary too when realizing I am on the edge of 30. It s just so scared when I realize that life is just too short, just not enough to make nice things. I don't know how many chances left for me to get close to these loved ones of mine, help some things for them. I hope there will still be more.

After romance, poets write about time passing and loss. But nothing in Pop culture prepares anyone for the inevitable.

did u imply that I am the first ?

well, sometimes, I live with just passion, no thinking, no hatred, that is when I am being myslf and see the world with different eyes. It s indeed a
beautiful feeling ...

I was just having a dig at pop culture n general. But tell me when did Britney Spears sing about death? Or even old age?

Or just plain getting older?

Weatherlawyer 14. December 2008, 10:53

Not the first either some might say not poetry too neither:

Well that's sorted that lot out, now lets go and get those damned chrismass carloaders.

 I like the above quotations. Sound sweet!

They would ease our minds sometimes...sometimes we just need time on our own contemplating the world.

well, it seems u get allergic with Britney Spears??? what is wrong with her? First, I would like to chose some strange, odd avatar like...yours ...but then I am bored with those stuffs and simply chose Brit ...After all, like u said in your blog "people would rather look at flowers than corpses". I am sure this photo of Brit can hardly raise eyebrows on some ppl's face, nothing but pleasure. And her musik too, "oops I did it again", "piece of me" etc...are such interesting spices, even needed, necessary sometimes for our jogging.penguin . It s so natural that we need those things in life. Simply, they would help us view the world less dark & heavy.

I have no objections to Britney in any way. I think she is or was attractive. Not my sort of music but most of it fairly harmless.

She went off the rails but that is show business.

I think you aught to get some pictures you like to represent you. You can always change them. Or how about some Terry Pratchet stuff?

Have you noticed that you only have gentlemen callers? Never wondered why? I used that cut down Condolezza Rice picture in one forum I was in. She looks so evil.

Another one I used was George Bush's mother and I still got lots of blokes writing to me. Must be some bloody desperate people out there.

I aught to insert some clever text where her brain should be. "This space for hire."

hehe! sounds like I am talking to a baby boy :smurf: lovely one!

I just simply put Brit on the avatar whose face would draw a smile on somebody's face, instead of big question marks in his eyes for seeing some queer avatar. Well I don't think just males visit my blog, it s just I haven't spent time surfing other blogs so there are not many chances catching new people on this opera page. In addition, I closed the blog 4 long time, don't update it often, and English is not my mother tongue which is a barrier to me...In sum, it s just the content of the blog itself, not because of the image of avatar or something.

anyway, thanx 4 spending some time reading my blog

Weatherlawyer 15. December 2008, 15:35

Your English is excellent. How about a plate of noodles as an avatar? Or a dragon or whatever the Vietnamese equivalent is. Something a bit more of an at home sort of thing.

Anyway you don't have to post in English as there are lots of Opera users on here from Viet Nam. I get the impression you work in a college or school so Britney is not really who should portray you is she?

gettin-out-of-shell 15. December 2008, 15:39

err...about Terry Pratchett's stuffs...yea, funny ones...I understand u kind of interesting in UNUSUAL things...which often make impression to ppl's eyes...I will consider your suggestion:)

gettin-out-of-shell 15. December 2008, 15:45

am I being flattered??? well, seems what I thought is true, that u just consider Brit a trivial one...

Poor Brit!

She s got talent anyway...

ok! maybe I should choose something that s related to Vietnam  good idea!

Weatherlawyer 17. December 2008, 01:39

Looks like a straw hat and a shell.

Nice one.

gettin-out-of-shell 17. December 2008, 11:15

yep! I feel pleased looking @ this new image! The hat is a well-known feature of Vietnamese which is mostly used by farmers who have to work under extremely hard weather. Looking @ it, I understand the reason why ppl all over the world are trying to preserve tradition.

the "story" for why I put it as my image is really nice. ^^

thanx 4 nice idea!

Weatherlawyer 17. December 2008, 11:22

So? Link?

Where's the story?

gettin-out-of-shell 17. December 2008, 11:24

u see, I just exaggerated a bit!Homer: Doh!

u don't understand ??? :frown:

gettin-out-of-shell 17. December 2008, 11:26

to u, it s just an idea, but to me it s a nice story

Weatherlawyer 17. December 2008, 11:45

OK. I get it.

There is a Japanese feature length cartoon about a 27 year old Tokio girl always going on holiday to her relatives in the country, thinking back over the past and giving some insight to the culture that is rapidly being lost there. Well worth seeing.

It is called in English: Only Yesterday.
