Stories from the casino floor

you've got to be kidding

another 10 days (or so) have gone by without a single post by me? eek. sorry about that.

i gues i must have been busy, but looking back i'm not sure doing what. i know i haven't made any trips to anywhere. well, bingo! that's it!

the wife and kids were away for a week visiting her parents, and that meant i was manning the homefront alone. between the animals and the house chores, and trying to get some overtime in (since no one was home to miss me) i ran through at least one week at a near-record pace.

the fall is NOT here, but i'm starting to have all the fall/winter-prep chores creep into my mind. and the quicker i can banish them, the happier i'll be

well, sorry for the hit and run, but i'm off to get some chores accomplished (not winter-prep, more mundane stuff). next time i get a chance to sit down and put together a proper post, i will.

until then, take it easy.

the Olympics Have Started

it turns out that this is one of those weekends where it seems like "everything" is happening. the olympics are underway, and i didn't get a schedule of events together that i'd like to watch yet. and it's not like i didn't know it was coming up!!

besides that, the little league World Series is underway. i don't go to the games to see them live, but they are a fun pastime to watch on television.

there are also some birthday parties and other celebrations that are going on family-wise, so that'll take up some time. but, it'll be fun!

i get a newsletter sent to the email box from english harbour. this week they're telling me that if i didn't already have an account, i could sign up as a new player and get a 200% bonus on my first deposit. heh. i just think that's odd. i already have an account! that does me like, zero good.

maybe they could lead with some promotins that are available to me? put the 'new player' stuff at the bottom? or, send one newletter to plyaers (like me), and another one to the rest of the world?

they did add this bit . . . "Don't forget - all new purchasing accounts receive a free $10 entry into The Weekender - the biggest and best weekly online slots tournament with cash prizes up to 164th place. "

so, at least i know that there's a big slots tournament coming up (as it seems to do every week), and that it pays all the way down to 164th place. that, is nice.

we'll see if i get some free time tomorrow morning to jump in on it or not.

A week without slots

and it's not because there's a lack of activity at the casinos. i just haven't had the time, and inclination. this past week was our annual trip to a phillies game. and, for the first time ever, we faced a rain delay.

now, i've played baseball, and i've watched hundreds of games (over the years mind you, i'm not an overzealous fan). but, i always thought that there was some kind of set time limit for getting a game in on a certain day. for instance, if it's raining for two hours, that's it, no ball. come back sometime when the weather's better.

so, i was sitting in one of the restaraunts eating while it poured rain and thundered and lightning'd. and never entertained the idea that they could delay the rest of the game for eight hours if they felt like it. i was just thinking that i'd finish my meal, and when the two hour mark came around, the man would get on the PA system and say "go home".

as it turns out, they did resume the game, and played the full nine innings. i had a great time, and we'll get ready to do it again next year.

but anyway, no new news in the area of online slots. maybe i'll get some free time for a freeroll or so during this upcoming week.

Roulette System in Action

, , ,

A friend of mine recently joined the ranks of online casino players. He "found" a roulette system online that gave all sorts of warning about not abusing it so you aren't caught by the casinos. Only win so much money per day so you stay off of their radars, etc.

Well, he "tested" it out on the play tables for a couple of days and actually put in some winning sessions. So, he decided to take the plunge and sign up at All Jackpots and give it a whirl.

Here's the basics of his system. When you lose, double your bet, so that when you eventually do win again, you'll be back to even. That's not something I want to get involved with because when that losing streak does hit you, you're throwing lots of money out there.

Plus, the house already knows about this idea. It's called the Martingale betting system. And to combat it, the house puts limits on the biggest bet that they'll take. so at some point, you can't keep doubling up. they won't take a bet of that size.

All Jackpots caps the roulette bets at $80 per spin. at some point my friend's system has him betting $64, then $128, and then $256 or even $512 chasing a loss. so the system breaks down there.

All of that being said, he took a $150 deposit and ran it up to over $500. Nice!!

then he gave it all back. not so good, lol. oh well, nothing lasts forever.

found a slots tournament

, ,

well, i didn't figure it would take long to find a tournament to enter. it's been so long that i'm completely out of the loop when it comes to who has been running what kind of slot player oriented promotions.

it seems like there's a LOT of stuff out there, but i won't get into all of that at the moment. a lot of it seems geared towards new players, and i have a bunch of online casino accounts open already, so that leaves me on the wrong side of the fence.

still, it turns out that i could go back to the microgaming casino where i had been doing a lot of playing before - ALL Jackpots - and find that they're partnering up with All Slots casino to present an outrageous free slots tournament.

there's $100,000 "freeroll" going on. and now, i'm going to admit to having turned into something of a "button pusher". i opened up the casino, was happy that i still had some real money in there that i had long since forgotten about, and noticed the big-ass slots freeroll that was going on.

well, it seems like that $100,000 is broken into parts. tonight there was $2,500 available and the tourney was on the Tombraider machine. i had forgotten all of the winning combos, so i wasn't really "into" it. i was just puching buttons.

still, it was neat. the starting point put me in about 3,300th place. i hit a special and got some credit by picking the right "idols" during the special screen. that put me up into 1,900th place. but i busted out.

there was a timer going, and i'm thinking it was about 5 minutes. i'm not sure if that means there is only 5 minutes of play that you can have or not. when i go back for the next tourney maybe i won't be so pressed for time and i'll be able to take a moment and figure out exactly how it works.

well, that's all for now. it's good to be back

Any new news??

i've been doing just about everything other thanplaying slots online for the longest time. in fact, i'm quite pleased to see that this blog hasn't been pulled from cyberspace by the crew at opera.

i apologize to any of my readers who may have been wondering where i've been for the past 15 months, or however long it's been.

i see that a lot of the casinos are still offering things like free spins to their new customers. that doesn't do me much good, lol.

but, i also noticed that the prize pools for the tournaments is outrageous compared to when i was playing somewhat regularly. now they're awarding as much as $100,000 in prize money. i thought $10,000 was awesome!

has anyone been playing lately??

any updates to share??

Card Games

wow - i thought it had been forever, but i guess it really hasn't. i just feel like i've been gone for years and years.

i haven't gotten back into the casino gaming at all to be honest. but, i have been playing games to pass the time. in fact, i've been playing a lot of cards lately, mostly at Full Tilt.

i've been taking my poker seriously for the past three weeks, and although i've improved, i'm certainly not planning on quitting my day job any time soon.

before the poker, i was tinkering with the game of Gin Rummy. at Game Colony, i'm solidly no better (or worse) than when i started. i should be rated 1500, which is what they rate you when you walk in the door for the first time. lol!

anyway, i wonder if i can morph this from "the online slots" blog to the "what i've been up to lately" blog??

anyway, just stopping in spouting a bit.

take care guys,

Days without an Author

i know that i haven't been here and blogging for quite some time, and i realize that i probably won't be returning very often either.

it turns out i got a position working on some web projects that are going to be chewing up all of what was the recreation time i'd spend playing slots and blogging about it. i'm a bit behind the rest of the team i've joined, and so that disposable time just got turned into "catch up" time. if you know what i mean.

i think that working on projects like recording videos from youtube and the like will be fun. and i can see myself getting caught up in things like link-building for sites like the online poker room reviews warehouse, or the other gaming website, hold on, let me think, oh, the one about playing american darts, not english darts.

i am sure that the slots world will do fine without me. and after having written up my "hello and goodbye" post, it's just as likely that i'll be back sooner than i think. only 'cause i've made a clean split, like the kid that goes to New York City and wishes all his pals farewell before he leaves. to return six weeks later, lol.

well, for now at least, let me bid you adieu.
