Food - Nasi Goreng ( Fried Rice )

,

Nasi ( Rice ) Goreng ( Fried ) originally is the most simple dish ever. There's no rule in making it. You can basically use whatever you have and usually the things you put in it are the leftovers ( good ones, of course! ). Like the one I made for breakfast on Sunday morning, I used leftovers of Sambal Makarel ( Spicy Macarel ) from Saturday. Simply fry everything together, add in 2 eggs and some seasoning and it was done .

Of course then there are many types of Nasi Goreng now. Nasi Goreng Kampung, Nasi Goreng Cina, Nasi Goreng Pataya, Nasi Goreng Padprik.. just to name a few. The ingredients varies from one type to another though the basic ingredients such as garlics and onions are always compulsory. And being Malaysian.. of course we love our chilies!

So next time you have any leftovers, don't store them in the fridge for months. Just add everything together and make your own fried rice .

I don't eat red meat, so no, I've never tried it before...

What's the diff between nasi goreng, nasi goreng kampung and nasi goreng USA? Seems pretty much the same to me... I like Thai Seafood fried rice and also the Thai Pattaya Fried Rice very much!! :chef:

I have a weakness for Thai food... Oh someone save me from slobbering!! p:

fbaggins 21. April 2008, 10:01

Ahhh.. didn't know you don't eat red meat..

Nasi goreng - can be anything fried rice

Nasi goreng kampung - got anchovies only, kangkung, garlics and bruised cili padi

Nasi goreng USA - basically a Nasi goreng or Nasi goreng daging merah with telur mata kerbau

You love Thai food? So do I! But I can't stomach any thai related fried rice though.. dunno why :eyes:

fbaggins 11. July 2008, 05:41

Nasi Goreng Cina got like scrambled eggs, those instant veges, no chilies.. I think :D

sugarwinx 14. July 2008, 03:11

What a load of difference but with a roughly same taste!!

fbaggins 14. July 2008, 09:10

Yup, that's why it's better if just cook it yourself. Can put whatever and tastes better too

sugarwinx 15. July 2008, 07:16

fbaggins 15. July 2008, 11:08
