Whisper from TOTORO

A exhibition of Kazuo Oga's background art for animation was held in Tokyo in September.
I bought a picture book of the exhibition.(男鹿和雄展）
It has many beautiful picture. (price 2800yen, 262 pages, weight 1500g)
Oga has worked for Studio Ghibli animation for 20 years----scince My Neighbour Totoro----.
One of the most appealing point of Ghibli movie is its beautiful background.
Oga is the most skilled background artist in Ghibli.
He shows us beautiful and peaceful Japanese scenery.
This picture is from Omoide Poroporo ( Only Yesterday)
It shows a farm house in rural village in Yamagata pref.
Such scenery is typical in Japanese rural villages, I've never been to Yamagata though.
