There is a souvenir shop "MAMMA AIUTO!" in Ghibli museum. "MAMMA AIUTO!" comes from the name of pirate in "Porco Rosso" They sell a lot of Ghibli goods.

I bought a set of water playing toys of Ponyo for my granddaughter. Small kids always love playing with water. I'm sure she loves this Ponyo toys very much.

We can see another giant airplane in Lupin the 3rd. Lupin 3rd is a long TV series. Miyazaki directed some of the episodes. "Shi no tsubasa Albatross"(死の翼アルバトロス)--1980--The death wing, Albatross--is one of them. The location is an Air museum. There are many old airplanes in the museum. Albatross is an huge flying boat. Of course we can see air battle and chasing by Lupin and badman who rides on Albatross. As usual in Miyazaki's direction, airplanes are very well drawn. Albatross looks like Dornier DoX which first flew in 1929. In this episode, they say Albatross was made 50 years ago. It just fits because this episode was made in 1980. However there are differnces between Albatross and DoX. DoX has 12 engines but Albatross has 5. DoX has single vertical tail but Albatross has double. DoX has cantilever floats like a small wing but Albatross has normal floats. Anyway, I can see Miyazaki's feeling of yearning for old big planes in this episode.

The cantilever float is Dornier's particularity. Miyazaki borrowed it in his movie Porco Rosso. The flying boat of air pirate MAMMA AIUTO is named DABOHAZE. means a fish goby. DABOHAZE has cantilever floats like Dornier.
