Phred: I'm a software engineer and web dev. I spend most of my free time chatting in #snapshot (beta tester land) or #myopera. You can also catch me around the forums and the desktop team blog pretty often. Around the Opera community, I tend to gravitate towards web dev topics, betas, and userjs. In the real world, I'm into motorcycles (Yamaha 600r), the inet, standards (on and off the web), and
John: I'm a grad student at the University of Texas at Austin. I'm currently an Assistant Director of the Department of Rhetoric and Writing's Computer Writing and Research Lab where I helped launch viz., a website devoted to rhetoric and visual culture. My current research focuses on networked communication in environments like Wikipedia, Twitter, and social networks. In my free time I blog here and obsess over my Tivo, which is programmed to record any show with the phrase "long walks on the beach" in its title or description.
Jim: Like John, I am a graduate student at UT Austin. John and I work together in the CWRL and the Department of Rhetoric and Writing. And (I promise, we are two different people) I am writing a dissertation on Wikipedia. My blog - Clinamen is mostly about my research interests, and I also blog for the Rhetoric Society of America. When I'm not obsessing about Wikipedia, I'm usually watching sports or The Daily Show. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, and thus am a fan of the Pirates (no jokes please) and the Steelers. I also have a dog named Mazeroski - my own personal homage to the 1960 World Series.
