2009 IS LOOKING GOOD AND GETTING BETTER

The Gulf Coast is looking better everyday. Ocean Springs has re-elected Connie Moran for another term. Her efforts combined with other city officials is putting us back as well as maybe better. I noticed the other day the OS Yaught Club is completed. Ocean Springs beach has homes just about in the last stages of rebuilding. Not only is the O.S. bridge a beauty but at the base of the bridge a local artist has added three mosaic murals depicting local interests to our area. Two of the murals are posted above. Our area was as beautiful as ever in April with the lovely azaela bushes in full bloom. Now we see many of the summer flowers showing their lovely colors. The surrounding cities are progressing very slowly. The main street, Hwy 90, is completely rebuilt and resurfaced starting at the base of the bridge. The condos are still being built but very few restaurants have taken the plunge to build again along the main road. So be prepared to travel inland to have meals or cook your meals at the condo. Tourists are abound at the beaches from all over the U.S.
Speaking of restaurants here in Ocean Springs we are doing well. So far now many of the casinos are where the tourists are heading. As far as casinos the new ones are at a standstill maninly due to the economy. The Margueriteville resort has been put on hold with no starting date given. There are many apartment complexes in progress but the rent is out of site. Many of the Fema trailer folks had a June 1 deadline to get out and I don't know where they moved. There must be 50 trailers sitting here in O.S. waiting to be moved.
Otherwise we are doing good. Folks are moving back now that there are apartments available. With the housing market like it is, the money is not there if you want to sell or buy. I feel we have come a long way since I first wrote this blog even tho we have alot to do, especially in Biloxi and Gulfport.
Drop by again and I will have more pictures and stories.
