Few interesting questions about opera

I have few questions that I often think about while browsing with opera for more than a decade:

1. Will this ever happen that opera becomes the most popular browser worldwide ? In what platform ?
2. Is it even more likely or less likely for it to be the most popular in USA ? In what platform ?
3. Will opera ever be baught by a big company ?
4. Will opera just disappear some day ?

I will change my blog gradually

1. Will this ever happen that opera becomes the most popular browser worldwide ? In what platform?

I think Opera still has a shot in mobile but it would really require them to have an epiphany about a direction that's beyond the browser but not too beyond like their attempt with Unite.

2. Is it even more likely or less likely for it to be the most popular in USA ? In what platform?

The reality may be less likely but theoretically they are more likely to succeed with the changing of the guards where mobile is somewhat eating up on desktop.

3. Will opera ever be baught by a big company?

I think this would depend on whether someone feels they could take over the market if they gained the technology behind Opera but rebranded it. Certainly Opera still has many things going for it. Not just in terms of features but I would assume the reason there hasn't been a comparable Opera clone, it is because of their talented staff.

4. Will opera just disappear some day?

I don't think so. If they were aggressive and then failed, maybe. I think currently there is a more likely chance that users will migrate away from Opera and simply used Opera as another multi-browser companion than it is for Opera to fail.

1. As Apps are slowly taking over the Browser scene, I think the choice of Browsers will be less relevant for most people. Therefore Innovation with browsers will not be the key turning point for the future. This will cause users not wanting to change their browsers. So Opera will not be the most popular browser.

2. Only on Mobile, but it depends on how Android develops.

3. I think there will be another Software company buying Opera less Opera approaches new business segments such as Building an Apps plattform, developing new communication tools etc.

4. No, there are far too many enthusiasts around.

Populair browsers are bought & degrade with the money.
Live has its priorities.
Money comes after real interests.

So I enjoy this temporary,
for me perfect Opera moment.

Trailing and Eivin, excellent analysis. The questions I asked have no correct answer at present time and best answered in future time. But brain storming those now might be helpful.smile
