How to download video from youtube and other sites

, , , , , , , , , ,

People now-a-days use youtube for expressing everything from stupid to extraordinary things. Many users like to download videos from youtube and other sites. Here are some of the ways this can be done based on some discussions in opera community forums:

Using user js(probably the easiest way):

Starting with original discussion on this thread, samuil, xErath and fearphage contributed to a nice script for downloading videos from youtube and other sites. I really love it because it works great.
videoscript.js

Get the script now(right click>save link as) and see how to install user script.

Using button :

Alexs has a nice collection of buttons that you can use to download video. I use the clipnabber one and there are other variants available in the forum too.

Using widget:

There are few widgets such as videodownloader and flv downloader.

Using online sources:

Websites like clipnabber and keepvid allows you to just copy paste urls to download videos from there. Also has their own versio of buttons. I find it fairly easy. Moreover using opera's nice right click>create search feature, you can also create your own search.

Hope you enjoy downloading videos with opera now.

Broken link due to wrong file name - http://files.myopera.com/operafan2006/blog/videoscript.js instead of .../1videoscript.js

thanks. I fixed that. I mixed up because I have two files named videoscript.js and 1videoscript.js (uploaded twice!)

The clipnabber button works great, thanks for the tip

Before that i was using a keep vid custom search, that way i just had to add an "x" before the url, and that was it P:

Well...downloading youtube "via cache" is an effective way..but not as efficient as using "videoscript.js".
Unfortunately.."videoscript.js" is no longer active..please just try it..
