Dirty messy job but great therapy

By popular demand (not really) I am posting photos and talking briefly about opening a 24-foot round pool for the season. Editors note: Even though Pat and I bought a new $100 pool cover, we did not cover it for some unknown reason Homer: Doh! So this makes it more labor intensive for me (and her, cuz she's helping this year :furious:
This could be the "before" picture. Have added algecide, skimmed top, but not vacuumed yet, that takes two people.

Misc. equipment on the pool deck.

Pool house, bag of DE, Shock and other tools. It is handy to have a trampoline to place things on it

The DE filter, and motor which is the  and soul of the pool, "treat your filter well and it will love you" (Copyright C. Burton 5/31/2009)

The skimmer box filled with what I call "caterpillar seeds" They are a pain in the banana but when you live in the country among trees, banana happens!!

And last, but not least, a photo of part of the back yard from the pool deck. Have a fire pit and beautiful perennial gardens (that's not my job!) throughout and in the front bye bye for now

Cloverdale Dairy Farm 2009

Fans of unusual things, this one is for you! Will post when I get to PC. Ok, got some time on the PC. This is one building of the old Cloverdale Dairy Farm in Bloomingdale, Illinois (formerly known as "Cloverdale Illinois" in the 50's and 60's. During this time frame, Bloomingale/Cloverdale was all farm land and pretty much dirt roads. This old place is on "Army Trail Road", which is now a 4 lane road with strip malls, a huge mall called Stratford Square, condos, a Middle School, you name it....surrounding this piece of history. The owner, Frank Stark, and you will see him in other blog photos, is 83 years old, and a joy to talk to regarding the history of the area. Of course, he has been offered millions of dollars to sell the place, and rightfully so, he has kindly turned down every offer. So, let me post more pictures of this west suburban piece of history  The next photo is the back of my friend Frank Stark, he is actually the only remaining brother of 6 in the family. He took me to what he calls the "play house", which of course he built.

The next photo is of interesting things he placed in the playhouse

The final and my favorite photo is his barn/work garage with numerous memorabilia of the past, including the signage "The Cloverdale Tap" The CD Tap was located about 2 miles west of the farm in a house. We used to go there to drink beer after softball games back in the early 70's. I hope you enjoyed the post

Loaner car

Today I took my 2006 Hyundai Tuscon to the dealer for the 30k mile service check up. Jim, the best service manager I have known shows me that my rear brakes are needing repair. The break job would extend the 2 hour appt. to maybe 3 hours or longer. Jim comes into the waiting room and says 'follow me'. Just outside the service area, at 11:50 am is a dealer car for my use  Top of the line Hyundai Genesis fully loaded! I love Elgin Hyundai
Then at 1:30 CDT, I had to return the very cool and awesome car and get the Tuscon back
