Partridge in a Pear Tree or is it Parrot in a fern plant?

This is Kiwi, our Jardine's parrot. Her flight feathers have not been clipped in over three months I think, so every once in awhile she takes it upon herself to fly from point A to point B in the living room. Today, she landed in a planter of ferns  She really thought she was groovy, even eating a bit of the plant :troll:

Thanks Dave, yes she is a "pretty bird" and tells us about it every day

Humble animals are the best! :D My dog likes to try to roll me off the bed to get "her" spot.

I like that you have a parrot with good self-esteem! Bird therapy can be expensive!

Kiwi is a little bit bigger than the parrot I've seen in Vietnam. For us, anything from VN is small, anything from the west is so huge. :D

Hi Lan,

Kiwi is small parrot a "jardine's" parrot one of the smaller breeds from the Amazon region in South America. She really is my pal. We also have an African Grey parrot, who is bigger than Kiwi. He is starting to talk and whistle more, and says things to the dogs like "go outside"? and "shutup Libby"

Two more days, until our new President takes the oath of office. I am thinking about calling in sick for part of the day, so I see all of the important things live on TV.

Have a good week
~Carol

Carol,

You make me feel like keeping a parrot as pet, too. I rarely see parrot in Hue - my city. Guess that they are expensive pets so not many people buy them.

Wish you a great week ahead!

Any place in Hue for pet adoption?

Huong Lan 19. January 2009, 03:31

You mean pet shops? If so, there are a lot.

operainchicago 19. January 2009, 17:06

At pet shop you will pay big money. Are there pet shelters where people can adopt pets?

Huong Lan 20. January 2009, 02:17

Pet shelters? I don't think so. I don't see many people abandon their pets in VN therefore no need to establish a pet shelter, I guess.

operainchicago 20. January 2009, 02:24

Ah...that is awesome. People in America are starting to give up their pets because they have lost their jobs, or they fear they will, or just cannot afford to keep 2-3 dogs, cats or whatever. It's very sad. We have: 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 parott's, and 3 nice cichlid fish in a 45 gallon tank. We would never think of giving them up

Huong Lan 20. January 2009, 02:29

Wow, it's great to keep many pets! I don't think I have time for them. Now we only keep a small dog and he's very naughty and cute.

operainchicago 20. January 2009, 02:35

Let's see a photo of the naughty and cute dog. We also have one of those, with one blue eye and one brown eye. Look in my photo album titled "The Beloved Pets" and you can see!!
