Opera India has been operational since 2006. The team works in virtual offices with members spread across Chandigarh, Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore and Mumbai. In India, Opera has signed partnerships with telecom operators such as Tata Indicom, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone & MTS. Opera India also works with local handset manufacturers such as Micromax, Lava, Olive, Fly, Videocon, ICE,Spice etc.

Opera India actively works with the developer community in India to raise awareness of present and upcoming open web standards as well as industry accepted best coding practices. Opera India also works closely with various web properties to increase site compatibility and greater optimization with various Opera browsers present on a variety of devices. It also works with various standards bodies such as W3C India to promote, develop and suggest enhancements to various open web standards.

As part of our Opera Education program, we also engage with universities and schools in India to increase awareness of Web standards, give students a platform from which to learn and discover more about the Web and Internet industry and build campus hubs for the enthusiastic Opera community.
