Palm users - please download 3.0 again now!

Hi all!

Sorry for the inconvenience with Opera Mini 3.0 not working. Hopefully we've managed to improve it now, so please go to mini.opera.com and download it again!

The build number should be 3.0.6358 (menu -> tools -> help -> about)

Please let us know if it works (or not)!

Hi all!

When trying to get the latest version for my treo using the mobile I got the 3.0.6167, and when using the computer I got to the link to download 3.0.6358, but the server replied me with an informative "Nope" message.

Have I been too fast in trying to download Opera mini?

ManneS 30. November 2006, 13:45

You were too fast, yes. Try again!

6167 you shouldn't have gotten at all... Are you sure you entered the correct address? mini.opera.com

Hi can only find 6306 on the PC download site. I can't wap from my Palm :frown:

ManneS 30. November 2006, 22:45

It probably says 6306, but it should be 6358. Have you tried it?

joeyhzl 1. December 2006, 00:41

The new 6358 didn't reset my treo 650 after network test and EULA now.Looks great!I'm trying to open some huge webs:-)

joeyhzl 1. December 2006, 00:55

oops...works more stable than the old one,but still reset randomly. It reseted when i pressed "back" buttom three or four times.

Barry123 1. December 2006, 01:03

Haven't been able to get it working on a Palm TX. It is build 3.0.6358, testing with a working Internet connection via USB (other apps can access the Web). The Tools->Network option returns error:3.0.4 every time I ran it except one time when it appeared to successfully complete setup, then caused a reset.

Working better now for me. One glitch (the only-runs-once problem) first time. Deleted and re-installed and *seems* ok so far.

warren2501 5. December 2006, 09:10

i'm having this problem too and i can't seem to get the correct version via download. i keep getting 6306 and not 6358 and this is from mini.opera.com

help!

It works great on the Palm Lifedrive!
(Make sure to set your Java VM prefs correctly, Memory Maximum: 1Mb, Thread Stack Size: 32Kb)

Much better than the built in browser! Thanks!!!

Hendel 6. December 2006, 18:42

Still not working for me - I can install 6358 on my Treo 650 and go through the initialization steps, but as soon as I try to go to any site (one of the preloaded bookmarks or a new one), Opera exits every time. I had occasional resets (ok, fairly frequent) with the current release version of Opera Mini, but this build is completely unusable.

ManneS 6. December 2006, 18:50

Hendel: Have you checked your preferences? What are they?

Hendel 6. December 2006, 21:06

Ok, changing the settings in the VM worked - I can load/use Mini, and back to only getting the resets erratically.

banesi 8. December 2006, 01:10

waren, the same is with me, 6306 instead 6358 when going through mini.opera.com, SE W810 here

ManneS 8. December 2006, 09:34

banesi: The build 6358 is only for Palm users. You don't get that one, since you're using Sony Ericsson.

On my Treo 700p, I was still getting crashes all around EVEN WITH changes in the IBM Java VM preferences...

UNTIL I uninstalled Java thoroughly and reinstalled it.

1) from within IBM Java launcher, deleted Opera
2) deleted IBM Java: in the main Palm launcher delete everything starting with Java or J9
3) deleted leftover files: I used Filez* to delete leftover files starting with J9 or java
4) reinstalled Java: copied the two IBM Java VM installation files in again
5) set Java prefs: went to the Palm "Prefs" application, and scrolled to the bottom to "IBM Java VM"...then set
- checked "use double buffering", "use high resolution coord"
- set memory max to 4MB (some say 1MB is enough or even better)
- set stack to 32K (essential)
6) reinstalled Opera from mini.opera.com

FINALLY no crashes! Hopes this helps people who are still getting crashes!

* you can use any file manager...you can get Filez from http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=9992
