Opera Mini Blog

An even better browsing experience awaits you on Tuesday, June 19th

, ,

Preparations for the new Opera Mini beta, code named ‘Dimension’ are entering the final stretch.

Next Tuesday (June 19th), just 4 days from now, is when we'll release our baby, the new Opera Mini beta, to the world. Browsing the web with Opera Mini is about to become even easier and more enjoyable.

Our developers and QA teams have been working real hard at making Opera Mini the best possible mobile browser. We’re so excited, that we can't stop talking about it. We’ve been talking to journalist, bloggers, select users, and influential web developers (of course under embargo) about Opera Mini. Many of our executives are now on a worldwide press tour, showing off the mini (sic) browser.

We’re extremely proud of what we’ve done in bringing life to the mobile web. No more are you limited to mobile-only (i.e. WAP) websites or required to have a phone with high processing/memory capabilities to browse the real web. We believe that when web developers build websites for it to work on the web, it should work on the ‘Web’ – wherever the web is, including your mobile phone.

We can’t wait till Tuesday – just 4 days! :hat:

Soon...Very soon.

I've deduced from the posting times, this is not an accidental flood. :sherlock: If it is, he'll delete it.

ameer1234567890 16. June 2007, 17:42

So, its a public beta? What about the misleading blog posts about signing up for beta testing? Any answers????

ameer1234567890 16. June 2007, 17:45

Oh! How many times was it? Yes, it was accidental. May be I shouldnt have deleted.

Furie 16. June 2007, 18:10

:knight: Was just making sure.

danigoldman 17. June 2007, 14:03

@DjiXas: Thanks for the correction.

@ameer1234567890: We've never said that it will be a closed beta. Go back and look at the announcement on this blog and on the Opera Mini beta page. When you can sign up, you will receive an alert when the beta is ready. Hope that clears things up. Those who signed up for email alerts were first to get the details on the release date -- it wasn't posted here until a couple days later.

tileeater 17. June 2007, 21:52

FYI. I signed up and never got a notice.

ctcctcctc 18. June 2007, 02:25

Signed up again using another reliable account...

soumitram4u 18. June 2007, 18:19

:happy:India is waiting for new Dimension!

bm.riyadh 19. June 2007, 01:23

It's 07.22AM Bangladesh time (+6 GMT) Opera Mini dimension beta still not available.

Inst 19. June 2007, 01:43

I'm presuming that the Opera Mini team is headquartered in... Norway, right? The land of resource inflation from North Sea oil decreasing overall economic competitiveness. They probably will set up launch around 10 am their time, enough to have been in the office long enough to set up their launch party. Since Norway is +2 GMT, if memory serves properly, we're another 8 hours off from launch.

goutam_bnk 19. June 2007, 03:01

Today 19th june , tuesday , Dimension till not arrived at station. Late running!

allexclusive 19. June 2007, 04:07

mini 3.34 could not connect with proxy like opera 8.6 using fr*e gprs. Hope this one will do

danigoldman 19. June 2007, 04:14

Inst, the main development of Opera Mini takes place in Opera's Sweden office.

Inst 19. June 2007, 04:22

Ewww, what an embarassingly faux pas. I wish Scandinavian regional enmity was like Far Eastern regional enmity, where everyone is either condescending or hateful of everyone else. That way, I wouldn't be left alone in the wrong, I'd be in the company of a batch of despicable ultranationalists.

Chu-nx 19. June 2007, 05:35

Hey, this is a 19th june. Where is the dimension?

Chu-nx 19. June 2007, 05:42

??????!

Inst 19. June 2007, 05:54

Opera's a Norwegian company, with offices in at least Sweden. Whoops.

notyaniam 19. June 2007, 06:55

tik tak tik tak... still counting. Geez, and still counting.

ameer1234567890 19. June 2007, 07:08

Keep on counting. 1, 2, 3,... Once you reach 100, start again. Repeat this a hundred times and its on ur screen. The magic works. Aaag...

Inst 19. June 2007, 07:29

Assuming that you're not a robot planning to play the 1,2,3... Sound files to 100 within a second, people count an average of 4 numbers a second. So, one round gives you 25 seconds. 2.17 rounds is a minute, there's 1440 minutes in a day, count from 1 to 100 3000 times. Then it'll appear on your screen.

vivek_jaikar2000 19. June 2007, 07:34

Its 1 pm in india
where is the dimension ?

Chu-nx 19. June 2007, 09:04

Any body see the dimension?
