Opera Mini 4 leaving beta soon

With three beta releases under our belts, hopefully it won't be too much longer before we roll out our shiny new Opera Mini 4.

We've gotten lots of great feedback from many of you, which enabled us to make Opera Mini 4 the quality browser that it is today.

Thanks to all of you who helped with the testing. In particular, we'd like to thank those of you who submitted bug reports or gave us feedback in the Opera Mini Forums (and on your blogs too). Thanks for helping us bring Opera Mini out to millions of people.

At this point we are quite busy putting in some final improvements and touch ups to the new version, and we're looking forward to bringing you Opera Mini 4 final soon.

Looking forward to the final version. [Install->Add Feeds->Link bookmarks=Done]. Can't become much easier than that.

*hoping mobile view will once again become horizontal scrollbar free*
Thanks a lot for all your hard work.

Please fix the cookies first . They still appear to expire randomly.

Wow that was sudden I think Christmas is early!!!

Furie 2. November 2007, 18:20

Hope the final version will go back to how this one was when it was released and show almost full CSS again.

OrtakVelja 2. November 2007, 18:24

I have Nokia 6233, and when I open some page with lot of sources Opera stops working, and when I press buttons to move cursor they need few (10-15sec) sec to move cursor. I know that I dont have a lot memory on the phone. But what is this? Memory prob. or bug.
And, pls, can I open travian.com with my phone in other ver. Now haves so many bugs... Just try... Because opera dont understand linked imgs.
Tnx!
Long live Opera Mini ;-)
Sorry for my Eng. :-/

Do you want to be a Furie

Hope the final version will go back to how this one was when it was released and show almost full CSS again.

Could you elaborate a bit. Are you talking about mobile view? I really need to get my self a real phone that can play nice with OM. Anything but vertical scrolling is a pain. Does anyone have a Green phone? Or has anyone of you in the OM team tested it? How is it? It has to be this years Christmas toy.

If you turn mobile view off you can see sites with their CSS displayed almost like it appears on a desktop PC. However, a couple of days ago a server update broke that feature.

The hardware specs make this phone a bit past it now. Unless they've got a new version out? I heard a while back about a slider, but I wasn't too bothered and haven't been paying much attention.

NoteMe 3. November 2007, 01:04

Got you. I seldom use that on my shitty phone.
Me having a Greenphone and no other phone as backup would become a disaster. Even functionality like answering the phones would probably be broken after a few nights with curtains down and the SDK by my side.

[edit]
Ouch from their home page:

Details on Greenphone ordering and delivery: Trolltech has sold out of Qtopia Greenphones and will not be producing more.

I hope it's as good as and then better than 3.1 ... for now I'm sticking w/3.1 as I like the SSR better... also we still need leftie landscape mode please... and one more level of zoom in between the two we have now... that oughtta do it... yeah... can't think of anything else so... (Maybe flash support in version 5?)...

Rony_7 3. November 2007, 04:26

Wow..! yuppi... yuppi.. final ver. gna cum out next week am sure..haha: (sharlok)

dost1234amar 3. November 2007, 06:54

manjil 3. November 2007, 10:10

Well, i am running om4b smoothly in my nokia 6600.

But i've some suggestion to b implemented before full version comes out..

Om4b3 shows the title bar when in landscape mode and displaying full screen. It only shows it when loading new page.
Displayin title bar n status bar in full screen mode doesn't sound good isn't it ?

And the mobile view problem i don't think i've to tell u.

Keep up the good work opera mini...

zoligrg89 3. November 2007, 11:34

:D
will it be released in the same time as opera desktop?

Furie 3. November 2007, 12:41

Can we still have Opera Mini 3.1 as an option though? Or will the final version overwrite it?

Vigram 4. November 2007, 10:11

Im using the 3rd beta on my moto l7 nd its a bit slow cant u guys optimise it a bit in the final version because its annoying to wait after clicking anything for about 10 secs

Furie 4. November 2007, 13:59

You should try Firefox.

alanyap 4. November 2007, 22:28

I've Opera Mini on my SE W660. I keep losing my feed information.

The feed collection was there for a few days, up to a week. Then it got reset to show the default list of feeds, or blank and it never recovered.

I've to re-add my RSS feeds every few days. *pissed

xlight 5. November 2007, 02:30

Will it still crash my Palm Treo 650 ?

saxi 5. November 2007, 11:49

I Have a Sharp 770SH and I have instaled opera mini, it works fine.. but it does't work with Opera mini 4 beta 3, it does't instal wen connect to internet ...Wy is that?? it says "b03 java.io.10Exception: null"..

Dagenham 5. November 2007, 13:20

On my old Siemens M65, the latest beta version keep freezing, just like the previous betas, sometimes I able to accept the license, and browse for a while (so it's not a connection issue, I guess), than the application simply stops, sometimes freezes immediately at startup :frown:.

I have no problems with the current 3.* version.

danigoldman 5. November 2007, 15:39

Furie, the new Opera Mini 4 will overwrite your Opera Mini 3.1 installation (AFAIK).

Furie 5. November 2007, 16:32

Bugger. awww Is there anyway I can get both running side by side on a Sony Ericsson?

Dagenham 5. November 2007, 16:36

I'm going to keep the current version in my archives for the worst case scenario .

theoddbod 5. November 2007, 19:33

:eyes:

compking 5. November 2007, 21:47

Yeah I'd like the option of having both run side by side as I'm pretty happy w/the usability of 3.1 ... if 4.0 is everything that 3.1 is plus more, then great!... but so far, from what I've seen in the BETA, the SSR isn't as good so I prefer 3.1 ...

Myrdinn 6. November 2007, 06:49

Don't like mouse cursor. Give me 3.1 anyday. Myrdinn

Rony_7 7. November 2007, 05:32
