Upgrade with BiDi support for feeds

The Opera Mini 4 servers have been upgraded with quite a few improvements. To begin with the servers should now be nicer to phones that are low on available memory. but what we are are especially pleased with the new feed system and hope you will like it too:

  • Improved feed (RSS/Atom) viewer to support for bidirectional text and layout. Oh, and it's faster.
  • Fixed bug with <select> items being wrongly positioned.
  • Fixed problem with images in <object> tags not being rendered correctly.
  • Made sure image maps gets rescaled to fit the screen width.
  • Fixed problem with page being zoomed in when going to page which is in history.
  • Fixed problem with some phones with little memory getting too many images.
  • The server now prioritizes sending images at the top of the document if the phone's too low on memory to display them all.
And for those of you using the 4.1 beta client:
  • Downloading of files which require authentication now works (gmail etc).
  • Redesigned the file download page.

Opera Mini 4.1 beta available for testing!4.1 lemontopic - coming next week!

I noticed that the text looks bigger in my Feed yesterday evening (night). I thought it was my phone it was something wrong about. And also if there are feeds with unred messages there is always a feed icon with blank line under it before the feeds with non unred messages. Hmmm...Not sure if it is one missing, or just one ekstra blank really.

"Phones with little memory getting too many images", is this related to not displaying Javascript related ads/images or is it identifying the N95 also as a phone with low memory? And yes, the download function actually works now. Wish if there was resumeable downloads support too.

Not that I know of. Bug report it with a URL to test on so someone can have a look.

Unlikely.

Hmmm, I wondered why it was running slower since yesterday. The new feeds work much better but the feed list layout is a little strange, with numbers all over to the far right. And the file download screen is prettier, but scary to see in desktop view.

Some of the options on opera:config no longer work either. Like content folding feeds.

When are you guys going to fix om 4 beta's inability to delete posts? I'd love to be able to moderate my forum on the go. Thanks for constantly making improvements and more power!

Give me download from Rapidshare or 4shared and that will be all wink . Bur with rss reader there are some problems.I always think that rss reader are the best. But now I've got a problems with bash.org.pl (polish version of bash). Dialogues looks good where there are only two text. When it's bigger text looks like : <xx> What's up ? <za> Nothing... <vc> Just having a break<xx> I see (...) - this is short example but it's look like I write. When the text is longer text is unreadible ... In old version everything was allright.

And there is one error. When I use pages with lots of pictures sometimes everything going wrong.Telephone write messeges that there is no free memory, I cannot use any program to reset memory or reset phone (I've a 9500)... I must take battery off and put it again into telephone...

That's all. Sorry for my bad english! Thank You opera for opera mini smile

After this server upgrade, Opera Mini is getting a lot of blank pages when I try to view webpages. Almost 60% of all the clicks I do, I get a blank page instead of the page I requested.
