edit: but the icon doesn't look good at all (s60v5) :frown:

bhsand 16. September 2009, 06:23

Isn't there signed versions available? I have a HTC Touch HD. When navigating to m.opera.com/next, clicking "download anyway" after the warning about 5 beta not confirmed working for my phone, I directly get to an unsigned version.

bhsand 16. September 2009, 06:29

Wow! Nice speed dial in Mini 5. And overall fast. Love the design, especially the new menus. I've always missed some points from Opera Mobile in Mini, and vice versa. This has now been improved massively.

I love it!

Minor bug: When setting font size to medium, some text overlap on the news.bbc.co.uk. Are you aware of this, or should I report it in the BTS?

Btw, where is "page info" now?

trizzo 16. September 2009, 07:24

nice upgrade. New UI is very good and very smooth. I am using Samsung i780 and it works well. So far - no issues.

holgerjeromin 16. September 2009, 07:28

I can not find Opera Link in the new GUI. Can anyone help me? :-)

lsaplai 16. September 2009, 07:29

"special, native version for BlackBerry"

Can't download on a Curve 8310. Get a "Download Failed" error. How do I get the special BB version that works?

Cheers!

Magister2k7 16. September 2009, 07:43

Scrolling does not snap to text columns anymore. Is it a known issue, or should I report bug?

ManneS 16. September 2009, 07:50

There is no page information or Opera Link available now. Sorry.

@lsaplai: There are three different builds for BlackBerry, and it depends on which OS you have. Sounds like you get the wrong version. Which OS do you have?

ManneS 16. September 2009, 07:52

@lsaplai, please try the PC download method. Builds can be found here: http://www.opera.com/mini/next/download/ Use 4.3 for everything between 4.3 and 4.7.

ov1d1u 16. September 2009, 07:56

On Sony Ericsson W880i it restarts the phone at 20% on "Font Data Calculation". I tried again and now it restarts the phone at ~45% progress.

lsaplai 16. September 2009, 08:01

Thanks Mannes. I have 4.5 so I'm trying your advice to use the 4.3 version. Hope it works!

bernis 16. September 2009, 08:03

working great here on HTC Hermes, jbed, thanks

The-madman 16. September 2009, 08:22

looks sweet so far. ... hey wait, noooo!!!!!
Ok we have a global recession but saving out the opera Link is bolloks. I want my opera Link back. Come on guys ....

auryle 16. September 2009, 08:32

We need Opera Link sync :frown:

virtualshuric 16. September 2009, 08:37

Thank you for the new mobile browser break-through. I played a little with the Beta and what I feel is Ex-cite-ment! I was only confused about RSS-feeds (I can subscribe, but don't know where to find'em later). Opera Link absence is a bit strange too. But I think we'll see in the new builds. Thank you very much, again! New Mini is great!

Shaxer 16. September 2009, 08:53

IS it just me or Ctrl+V does a Cancel instead of a Paste from clipboard? it makes bookmark/speed dial etc synching with Opera Mini 4.2 even less fun :frown:

also it seems you always have to delete the full address before you could Cancel typing a new address. Phones have a delete (C) button, why assigning the left softkey to the same function??

and how do you delete/change shortcut once it has been assigned to an address?

Furie 16. September 2009, 09:29

Marianne, please tell the Mini team that they've done an amazing job and even beaten my expectations for this. This is the best first beta I've ever seen, better even than some release products. Once the application has been optimised for lower RAM devices and older options have been re-added it'll be plain to see why Opera Mini is the world's most popular mobile application. Thank you all.

ManneS 16. September 2009, 10:04

Thank you, Furie! I'll forward your kind words!

Le()niD 16. September 2009, 10:26

Yay! Just sweeet! Looove how it looks and works on Nokia 5800.
You are the best guyz!
But please fix the russian keyboard in InLineEditor for the ability to write in cyrillic there!
Thank you! Thank you!!! You made my day a bit brighter

Valgrind 16. September 2009, 11:11

@bhsand: Report it. Haven't heard if it before at least.

Regarding Link and RSS, those are disabled in the current beta build. They will be back in before final.

Investor 16. September 2009, 11:22

looks promising. good work :wizard:

however a bug

pressing arrow key eg while navigating menu or speed dial makes cursor move 2 positions instead of 1

philry4n 16. September 2009, 12:06

wow i really like this beta. i'm on se w950i. still wondering how to get a new line tho with this new visual keyboard

Ngamer01 16. September 2009, 12:42

Still no animated GIF support in Mini's future? That's the one thing that kills Opera Mini for me as I have to use my cellphone's (Sony Ericsson w580i) native browser just to look at animated radars (which use the animated GIF format). ;_;

If Opera Mini can include animated GIF support, I can get rid of my native browser (Media Net) altogether and use Opera Mini 100% of the time for cellphone browsing.

mbirton 16. September 2009, 12:49

Java game error. cant start on samsung d600e.

tth 16. September 2009, 14:27

Great look&feel
Bug:
Only menu item showed is Bookmarks. Does not change/scroll when I move past it so accessing other menus is guesswork.
Nokia 3110

Khennon 16. September 2009, 14:31

Ooppssttt... Help when i open the OM 5 after loading its closing itself!!!

Khaled-Khalil 16. September 2009, 14:58

"Tabbed browsing"

"Inline text editing
Copy-and-paste function"

i will certainly love it

NaNaKat 16. September 2009, 15:46

Any news on an Android beta? I have an HTC Magic and would dearly love to use Opera as 4.2 has severe issues on the Magic.

slcvt98 16. September 2009, 17:55

I sucessfully installed on an BB8320, butI am having hit or miss results on using radio buttons/checkboxes. The cursor seems to be "boxed out" of some.

tigerhawkvok 16. September 2009, 18:00

Looking forward to trying it on my Samsung Rant! With no compatibility for 4.2, I'm hoping it's compatible with 5 ...

Maybe you guys will develop a version for the Zune HD with XNA Extensions and release that, too ;-)

Cois 16. September 2009, 19:42

Excellent so far  can run my instant messenger and it at same time for a change :D

aygart 16. September 2009, 22:06

Is there a version for palm devices?

ameer1234567890 16. September 2009, 22:09

So far, these are my findings:

- No page info.
- Saved pages from 4.2 doensn't show up.
- Cannot change to number mode in-line text editing.
- Cannot delete bookmarks by pressing the "c" key.
- When I type in a text box at the end of a page, the small box - that displays charcters are half-hidden.
- "Open with Images" option missing.
- Option to save images to phone, missing.

I like the design in overall, but the text and buttons seem too large on my screen. I am using Nokia N82.

phiznlil 16. September 2009, 22:16

Seems to work very nicely on Nokia E-61

mharvey 16. September 2009, 23:16

Bummer... it does not work on the Sprint Instinct. Back to V4.

subtitles 16. September 2009, 23:24

If anyone needs incentive to put back Opera Link, +1

Furie 16. September 2009, 23:51

Instinct support is in the works at the moment.
Opera Link wasn't put in this release as this release concentrates on new features. It'll be back in time for a future beta or the final release.

r3m00r3 17. September 2009, 00:00

Overall a HUGE improvement on 4.2!!! I was excited about finally having cut and paste for the blackberry, but can't actually figure out how to cut or paste anything :frown:

brickman1 17. September 2009, 00:19

Looks sweet but it only works on my touch screen p990i,can't move or do anything on my samsung blackjack. Is it more for touchscreen phones?

Furie 17. September 2009, 00:25

Hold down the central key, click select text, select the start position, select the end position, select copy.

redjava 17. September 2009, 01:28

excellent! can't wait to test it on my new moto karma... the latest version does not recognize the key layout but otherwise i'm loving opera as always... good job guys!

mikerashid 17. September 2009, 01:40

Good job, Opera. It's perfect on my old w810i. Pleeeease bring back opera sync and rss feed reader. It would also be great to be able to save a picture straight from the browser, rather than having to download an already open picture.

JohnILM 17. September 2009, 02:05

Doesn't work for Samsung Rant ... what does opera have against us Rant users? p: First 4.2 doesn't work and now no Beta 5 support. Ugh.

Geetaoh 17. September 2009, 05:51

opera mini v5 cant save files to directory, instead when downloading it redirects you to tha native browser which also cant save.......PLIZ RETURN THA SAVE TO DIRECTORY OPTION....,and if you can do a SISX and SIS realeases...

Hilariousbabe 17. September 2009, 06:23

Dere's no network detection on my opera 5 beta browser

Thakur341 17. September 2009, 08:20

I am using new operamini5 beta. It has fast speed and exciting new features but how can i edit the existing speed dials an where are the feed. I have subscribed for some feeds but where can i find them.

tyg3ress 17. September 2009, 08:21

well... Its interesting. When i try to scroll or move it moves two positions instead of one... My phone is an lg masterpiece... And has a joystick instead of the normal up down left right arrows so maybe thats why? Still stupidly annoying... Also i can't figure out how to type in t9word and i can't deal with having to use the abc input haha thats why i switched browsers in the first place. Yeah. It looks alright so far. Almost bulky though. I don't know. I'm sure the finished product will be amazing. I like the idea of tabs and that you can directly copy and paste links those will be killer features
