Opera Mini 5.1 Java and Blackberry clients have been updated to re-activate the dialogs removed by last week's minor server update.

And once again I recommend doing so called clean install if someone wish to switch to this latest build.

1) Delete the current build of OM5.1.
2) To reset the phone heap memory, switch off the device, remove the battery and SIM for awhile.
3) Then put powers back on again and navigate to http://m.opera.com/ using build in browser.

And why do you recommend such measures? Did you experience problems when not doing the above things?

The taking off of the SIM seems unnecessary for me... I don't see a reason for it.

Can't recall all the problems peeps have had. I'm not the only one who suggests this. Please search the Opera Mini forum for cases when this has helped.

Yes, me too, but it's not my idea. Originally this part of advice is given someone else, can't remember who. No time to search for that at the moment, sorry. But it does no harm either

Clean installs help smartphones because they guarantee you're not stuck with part of the old program messing you about. For java applications it's recommended that you perform a clean install every time rather than just overwriting. It may seem like a useless ritual but it will prevent problems later on.

I've updated directly (overwriting the previous 5.1 version).

So far no problems at all. (Nokie E72-1, firmware v31.)

Been around four months since Mini's 5.x final release, I wonder if they'd continue their six-monthly release tradition, they adhered to it very well throughout most of Opera Mini's life so far.

I know 5.1's been out but that was only a bug-fixing release, no new features. I guess we'll find out in about two months

@clacambr - There is a signed version to allow a "Allow Once", but you won't get "Always Allow" -- not until Opera submits Opera Mini to the AT&T Media Mall and AT&T approves it.

But that's a long shot. AT&T by default doesn't allow 3rd party apps to have the same rights as 1st party apps unless the 3rd party apps are submitted to Media Mall and AT&T approves the apps.

I use a Sony Ericsson w580i (AT&T), and Opera Mini 5 is gimped because of AT&T's restrictions. I can't even use Opera Mini 5's download manager because of AT&T. =(

@Ngamer01: I got Opera Mini 5 to work on my phone. There is an option at m.opera.com to download certificates (I chose all of them) after that, I was taken to a link to download Mini. The installation went smoothly and I am now very happy that I finally got Opera Mini without the bothersome network access permission popups. Thanks to Opera for providing the certificates! BTW, I am file with Allow Once! I learned to live with it. Have a nice day!

heres my wishlist
1)add support for flash PLEASE...
2) add 3X-4X zoom for pdf files
3) Add landscape view in 5.1 plz i loved to browse that way....
also if possible add split screen mode also
4) while using opera mini 5.1 my battery drains very fast...
5) also add phone no. recognition in opera plz....
6)also option to edit our speed dials is missing....

3, 4, 5 and 6 already exist. You've probably got the lightweight version built for phones that can't handle those features.

It depends a lot on what phone you are using.

I wish the download manager can be improved with added features such as: resume downloads, renaming a file before downloading and an option to rename .jar files to _jar to enable it download java files. Those that use browsers like: UCWeb (java) should know what I am talking about. If there is a network break, Opera Mini just tells you download failed and you have to restart from the begining again wasting precious Airtime. Guys what do you think?

1.Can't opera make the small font as small as in opera mini 4.1
2.skins should return and the transmitted data counter.
3.Opera mini 5.1 keeps dropping the connection

but still skins should return..and that uber small font from opera mini 4.there are several memory holes that also cause annoying crashing.
