First of all we would, again, like to thank all of you who helped us beta testing Opera Mini 4.1. You provided us with a lot of good feedback, and we are now ready to give you the full 4.1 version!
There are no big differences from the beta, but there are a lot of things that have happened behind the surface:
- We have fixed a lot of bugs
- Minor changes to saving pages
- Several adjustments to auto-complete address input and upload/download
- BlackBerry devices with old firmware now get Opera Mini 4.1 without JSR-75.
We all hope you enjoy the final version of Opera Mini 4.1!
Regards,
The Opera Mini team

lemontopic, 4.1, opera mini
The Mini Team is now preparing the final version of Opera Mini 4.1. Since
the beta we have done more than 150 changes to fix various issues and to
ensure that it will run as well as possible on your device. Many of these
changes are based directly on feedback from you. Among other things we
have adjusted how the "Save Page" function works and also made it possible
for BlackBerry users to surf with Wi-Fi. And to the person that reported
"Find in page does not work in Bookmarks page": we have fixed that one as
well
We would like to use this opportunity to thank you for the help in the
test phase. Without your support we would not have been able to find all
the strange issues on all those strange phones. Now, get ready to help
spread the word that a new version of the worlds most popular mobile
browser has arrived

The Opera Mini 4 servers have been upgraded with quite a few improvements. To begin with the servers should now be nicer to phones that are low on available memory. but what we are are especially pleased with the new feed system and hope you will like it too:
- Improved feed (RSS/Atom) viewer to support for bidirectional text and layout. Oh, and it's faster.
- Fixed bug with <select> items being wrongly positioned.
- Fixed problem with images in <object> tags not being rendered correctly.
- Made sure image maps gets rescaled to fit the screen width.
- Fixed problem with page being zoomed in when going to page which is in history.
- Fixed problem with some phones with little memory getting too many images.
- The server now prioritizes sending images at the top of the document if the phone's too low on memory to display them all.
And for those of you using the 4.1 beta client:
- Downloading of files which require authentication now works (gmail etc).
- Redesigned the file download page.

We made a server upgrade yesterday. The much requested "zoom image"
for downloads is finally here! There is quite a bit of work behind
this update, but the list of user visible changes isn't that big as
can been seen in the changelog:
- Added "zoom image" option to image download page. It let's you
stretch or crop an image to fit the size of your screen before
downloading it. (Similar to the functionality in Opera Mini 3.)
- Fixed several problems with clicking on links and <button>:s. This
fixes problems with among other sites Yahoo Mail and Betfair.

We did a server upgrade yesterday. See below for changelog. Thanks to our great users, we found out this morning that there were a couple of regressions, like a problem downloading things in Opera Mini. After some discussions in the
forum, where we figured out how to reproduce, the server guys did a great job fixing it very fast, and now it's working!

That's one great advantage of having such a wonderful community as Opera has. We have very many dedicated users who do their very best to assist us. Thank you all!
Changelog:
- Added a simple UI to the server-side preferences that exists. Go to 'opera:config' to configure some settings.
- Tweaked phonenumber detection, there should be somewhat fewer false positives now, but you can now also disable the feature on the opera:config page.
- Increased the default timeouts to 40 seconds from 20.
- Updated to a HTML rendering engine to be similar to the latest Opera 9.5 weekly release.
- Fixed support for entering hostnames starting with a number (eg, 360.yahoo.com) as a URL without the starting http://
- Made content folds visible even when the background is black.
- Fixed inter-page links ().
- Fixed clipping rectangle for iframes with hidden overflow css properties, this bug caused some links inside some iframes to be unclickable.
- Fixed HTTP basic auth for pages with non-7bit authentication realm.
- Pages with nested tags are now somewhat easier to navigate, it's now possible to follow both the inner and the outer link.
- New WML stylesheet.
- Various optimizations resulting in the average transcoding time to be 20% lower.

opera mobile, opera mini, barcelona, mobile world congress
...
We're going to Barcelona!

Once again we're taking the trip to Barcelona to attend
Mobile World Congress. This is absolutely the biggest event of the year for the mobile industry, and
the place to be for anyone who is interested in the new developments and products that are coming out.
This year we have an excellent show planned. We'll have a stand where we will be showing our products, doing demos and having fun. These four days in Barcelona are always hectic, but are also incredibly cool, and if you have the chance to drop by our booth, do so.
Our stand will be in Hall 2, Stand 2C76.
We'll be showing off our latest
Opera Mobile 9.5 and, of'course, Opera Mini running on lots of cool phones. There will also be some widget demos, and a Nintendo Wii for you to
play browse with
