Upravlator: Funny name, very interesting gadget.

Back in January I covered a very interesting device put out by the ever amazing Art Lebedev Studio, designer of products that are useful, inventive and aesthetically pleasing. The device I covered in January was the Optimus Three, a tiny three button keyboard in which each key sported a small OLED display that the user can modify to be whatever they want the keys to be. Well Art Lebedev is bumping the Optimus Three up a few notches with the Upravlator Keyboard. The Upravlator sports the same concept but increases the amount of keys to 12, each of which sport the same OLED display seen on the Optimus. Besides the fact the Upravlator has 12 keys, it differs from the Optimus in that it is put in the form of an upright display and even bigger than that, each key can be pressed in 5 spots(on each edge and the middle), so each key is essentially 5 keys for a grand total of 60 keys. It appears that this might be most useful for people that need a lot of shortcuts like graphic artists. The Upravlator is set to come out in the second half of 2007 and will compatible with both Windows and Mac OS X.
