935 (Nine hundred and thirty-five)

, , ,

I know it sounds like I'm beating a dead country, err, I mean horse, but thanks to the Center for Public Integrity, we have a pretty good approximation of the number of lies BushCheneyCo told to get us into an illegal war. And that number of course, is 935.

These are the untruths that spouted from the lips of the top eight administration officals. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY were from the master prevaricator himself, George W. Bush.

Excuse me, but refresh my memory, WHY are they not being IMPEACHED?

I've said it before to friends, that failure to use the Impeachment provision of the Constitution to address these crimes is the first step in relegating this wonderful covenant of the American people to the trash heap of history. Failure to use It's elegant structure for removing miscreants from office will ensure that it will never be used for lesser crimes, or greater.

The fact that it was used against President Clinton for something so minor was truly an embarrassment, yet legal. But now, with the scope of the president and vice-president's crimes both known and hidden SO ENORMOUS, it is surely a travesty that this remedy is not being pursued. What are the Democrats in congress afraid of? Surely not a backlash of the voters! The majority of voters in this country favor investigating the President and Vice President for his roles in many crimes. Everyone of these voters, in their hearts, understands what the failure to NOT impeach means. It means more of the same down the road. They feel helpless and hopeless that there is a means for removing this blight on our nation and it IS NOT BEING USED. It's like the scenario of someone being assaulted on the street, and no one picks up the phone to call the police! Well, our constitution and people ARE being assaulted! It's time to pick up the phone!

So it's time for the people to pick up the phone. and the pen. and the keyboard. Contact your Congressional representative and tell them to get off their butt, if they haven't yet done so. And if you live in Washington state, tell your state reps to support the measure in the legislature calling for impeachment!

And tell your friends and family, too. What good is sputtering, apoplectic outrage, if you can't share it?

Gore Tears Bush A New One

, , , ...

Al Gore called for an investigation of one many of Bush & Co's High Crimes. Specifically, warrantless spying on American citizens. Here's the link to the complete text of MLK day speech:
Go, Al!!!

Jackass

, ,

Saturday's headline for the Seattle's Post Intelligencer screams "Bush Fights Back, Accuses the Democrats --- blah, blah, blah".

This is what I wrote to the editor before I could finish my morning cup of homemade jet fuel.

"Bush Fights Back, eh?

I am tired of iterating the many falsehoods for justifying this bloody occupation which the snake oil salesmen and pitchmen for this corrupt administration foisted upon the sheeple of America.

Our president is a jackass. Little wonder since he is the petulant son of two jackasses.

The wonder is they could even procreate at all. Being mules and all. . . "

I didn't feel like niceties. No minced words. The time for mincing words is past. I am hoping the Democrats and moderate Republicans will take the gloves off and go after this son of a mule. It is high time he was put out to pasture, and, short of that, censured for being the petulant son-of-a-gun he is.

I wondered aloud to Ally a few months back, maybe longer, about whether my moral compass would be as agitated if a Clinton administration, or the Gore administration had led America down this same path? I didn't look very far into Bosnia, though I thought I understood at the time that we were part of a UN peacekeeping mission.

I loathe Bush's brand of conservatism. I refer to him as 'Furious George' for two reasons besides the obvious reason that it is a play on Curious George, which he is anything but. I could call him 'Incurious George", but I like Furious George because in the run-up to the 2004 election the country's reich-wing attack dogs gloried in referring to ANY Bush nay-sayer as "angry".

I think Furious George fits him because during the 2004 debates the man WAS furious. During the debates, you could have fried an egg on his forehead. He hated being forensics roadkill for John Kerry's patrician debating style. During that fall, if you looked up "petulant" in the dictionary, there would have been a portrait of George Bush. I expected him to say to the moderator, "I am the president, and I, not you, get to decide how long I talk."

Which leads me to the second reason I believe furious fits him to a tee. Before he took us into this godforsaken occupation of Iraq, he was being pestered by the press about the timeline for invading Iraq, even though, at the time, he had not publicly acknowledged he was taking us to war. He had been given carte blanche by our Vichy congressmen and women but he still hadn't tipped his hand in a public way. Of course, anyone with a computer and a modem and the least bit of curiosity knew the jackass was itching to pull a figurative trigger.

I think he was at Crawford and his temper was reaching a tipping point and he finally furiously lashed back at the press (those insolent yellow dog journalists!)"I am the president, and I get to decide whether we go to war, not YOU!" When you are imagining him saying those words, besides the red neck around the collar, don't forget to imagine the smirk.

I loathe Furious George and his petulant attitude. I fear he is the single greatest threat to humanity the world has ever known. His unique combination of religiosity, machismo and anti-intellectualism, coupled with his holier-than-thou behavior is indeed dangerous. But I would be equally horrified by a Democratic administration leading us down this same path. And I would be fighting tooth and nail to depose a Slick Willie who had led us into an urban guerilla conflict under false pretenses.

When Bush was being furious at the Democrats yesterday, I wonder if he remembered the black-tie, fund-raising dinner party with the haves and the have-mores when he joked about not being able to find weapons of mass destruction under his lectern?

What a jackass.
