The Man on the Moon
Wednesday, 25. February 2009, 05:06:39

Next July 20 of this year 2009 will be the 40 years
of the historical arrival of the man to the Moon.
And from that moment the polemic was created of, if really the Apollo 11
landed on the moon or,if everything, was the biggest farce of the History?
But it is not to continue with the polemic for what I do this commentary
but to transmit to all of those that today have less than 40 years
the fascinating mental adventure that means that odyssey
For all those of us that we were children in those days
It is not my intention to denigrate the new generations
but the World, in spite of all the problems
that it was facing those years
... as the terrible War of Vietnam,
the cold War between U.S.A and the extinct U.S.S.R
the Disturbance for the civil Rights
the Rebellion "Hippie" and so many more
was a better place of what it is today.
And the adventure of the Apollo 11
without mattering that they were arrived or not to the Moon
it was one of the most beautiful adventure
of the whole humanity, since in the air
something was floating, slightly indescribable,
slightly magical, that was saying to us,to the young men
that the future might be wonderful
and made us dream and also,
It made us turn the look towards the sky
without mattering if you were a rich child of America
or a poor child of any another part of the World.
We all were dreaming of being "Neil Armstrong"
or Collins or Aldrin ... but then, something very bad happened!!
... I do not know what it was ? .. but It was very, very bad!!
... The World advanced very much technologically, but
it moved back, mental and spiritually
almost to the level of The cavemen.
Today the young men, do not look at the sky
but they fix the look on a screen
" Killing everything what goes out in it "
feeling all-powerful pressing buttons
of a "Nintendo" or a "Play Station"
Today the young people do not dream of trips to outer space
but of being "Rapperos" and to earn millions without working
and any very small young girl dreams of putting on " Silicona's implants "
for with 13 or 15 years old, be a " Top Model "
and to work out almost naked in the front page of some magazine.
Maybe, what happens is that simply, that I got "old"
nevertheless... I want to do in advance an Honoring
to the Mission of the Apollo 11
Because ... without mattering
that they have arrived or not to the Moon, at least for me...
They helped to show me that ...
" there is something more " than sex, party and libertinism
And that the man, when he looks up to the stars
he approaches a bit more to God.
" Honor and glory to the Apollo 11 in its 40 years"
And I wish that You have landed on the moon...
because, believe it or not!!!
... I was going with you!!!

I've been with you on this great trip, as I was a 6 year old boy in Germany sitting in front of a little b/w TV screen all day long reading newspapers and every little bit of information, thinking about that there surely is more out there to be discovered, wishing it could be me and dreaming about the greatest voyage of all.
I agree with you ... It told me to lift up my head, open my eyes and make widely open the gates of imagination an fantasy we are all given by nature to explore and share, thank you for sharing this ...

I was only 4 years old at that time and I have no memories of the event, plus in the remote villages of Greece I grew up
we had no media coverage other than a radio operating with batteries... When later I did read and watched videos on it,
it is indeed a memorable,
important,
fascinating event of our life time!
Thanks for directing me here

and you`re right!!
it was a fascinating event.
I was 11 years old and
my mind was full of dreams and hopes
in those far days.
....thanks a lot for coming
you`re very kind

Good post!
Sometimes I wonder what has happened to the people, and why the world is so different today. Now I see in your words a lot of things that fit with the problem.
I'm agree with those words, and find the effects everyday in the school where I work. Most of the students find difficult to study.. but when you look deeper, they spend all the afternoon playing with playstations.
oswaldo conejo # 18. March 2009, 22:05
and I`m so grateful with your words!!!
and yes you`re right but the problem that I see
is not that they spend the time playing...that
it is a problem in itself...but the worse thing
is "playing WHAT"???---" !!!killing,killing,killing!!
every days, the whole day KILLING...that`s what is all about
...8 or maybe 9 out of 10 games today
the theme is "the more you kill...the more the prize
that`s the real problem my friend...

Yes, I agree. While Science advance rapidly in leaps and bounds, something about our humanity is lost. I call it conscience.
Everything has a price and it's sad that we are paying it the hardest way.
May God save us from eternal damnation.
oswaldo conejo # 19. March 2009, 23:43
and you`re right, everything has a price!!!
but I believe that it doesn´t have to be like that for most
The amiability, the charity, the taste for the good thing and the positive thing, has not to be lost ever.
The world in that epoch..I am not going to lie of that it was a paradise not, but as I say in the post, in spite of all the problems, it was a more nice place to dream of good things
And I hope that at least some of you "young men" do conscience
and try to rescue something of the very much good thing that has got lost The technology is wonderful but it is not necessary that it have to be anything without soul. The man must never lose the aptitude to dream in beautiful, noble and positive things...

Apparently you are an intelligent young man
and believer in God and it is not a question
to be neither an angel nor a perfect man not...
but to not be leaving to be buy
for the beautiful... but empty things...That the world offers you
it is the way I see, look at me... I am 51
and in spite of thousand mistakes and deceptions, disappointments and problems I keep on fighting, keep on dreaming waiting for better times
keep on man!!!
