Gameloft have today announced a new subcription service for their games. For £0.99 per week, you can download (and keep) one of their titles. once you've signed up to the service via their site on your phone, you will be sent one text a week (costing you £0.99), that acts as a reminder to download your free game that week.
As an incentive to sign up, you can download two free games in the first week, and also be entered into a draw to win an LG Optimus 3D. Unfortunately the service is only available for "HD" devices.
Whilst this is currently only open to the UK, I wonder if it's a model that will soon be seen in other parts of the world? I think I'd prefer just to keep on using the Android Market to get my games and apps, how about you?

If Angry Birds drives you mad, you can now take revenge thanks to a new game from Infinite dreams.
In what looks to be a shooting gallery inspired affair, you can take aim with a crossbow, and, well, shoot the birds.
They say simple games are the most effective, but with multiplayer modes, and crazy multipliers, Shoot the Birds could be a hit.
Check out the video below for more details. The game can be purchased from the Android Market for the sum of £0.69. Well be sure to have a full review soon!

SEGA have today announced
that Sonic CD will be headed to Android devices. Whilst there are no specifics as yet (this could be an Xperia Play exclusive), I'm pretty excited about this. Having games like this appear on mobile platforms bodes well for the future.

I have never really felt that you could transfer the First Person Shooter experience onto a touch device. Gameloft, however, keep trying to prove me wrong, and have today announced a further game in their "Modern Combat" series.
Modern Combat: Fallen Nation will be out in Autumn/Fall, and it frankly looks amazing; these graphics would not look out of place on a home console. With a lengthy single player campaign, and deep multiplayer element, this could be the game to change my mind.

Gameloft have recently added three new titles to their ever-growing library on the Android Market. There's certainly a Western theme, with the games being about cards and cowboys.
The classic card game, UNO, has now been released for high end smartphones on the Android Market, featuring high definition graphics and an online multiplayer mode (available both locally or through wi-fi). Lower spec phone owners can still purchase the 2D version of the game from the same place within the store, and the game is still available in the Gameloft Store.

Crime Story is a new game from Game Insight that's due to hit the Android Market in September.
It's looks to be a cross between Grand Theft Auto and Syndicate, which to us is a winning combination. Boasting a large, explorable game world and some of the best graphics seen on Android devices, Crime Story is a game to look out for.
We've been given a preview version of the game, so we'll give you our in-depth thoughts soon. In the meantime, why don't you read on for some screenshots and a video of the game in action.

Sony have today announced plans to release its own app store to deliver "the PlayStation experience" to Android based portable devices.
It's called the "PlayStation Suite", and Sony plans to release a steady stream of content through 2011. It'll start off with PS One Classics, the best-selling games for the original PlayStation, but tweaked so they're full compatible with touchscreen devices.
The announcements coincides with the news that Sony will be releasing a new handheld console later this year. That device also features a touchscreen and downloadable content, so it all links up rather nicely.
Sounds good so far, but it will only be available for devices running Android 2.3.
