Once again, I was able to show some people (a couple), from The Netherlands, 'my Sydney'.

Last week of September, 2007, once again, I assessed beaches. I have been doing that annually, since 2002.
Please take a look in my albums.

There was every reason NOT to go. One-and-a-half weeks after my operation, I am supposed to still take it easy. I woke up to the sound of thunder. It POURED! The traffic was clogged. Took too long to get out of Sydney. Took the (wrong) coastroad to Toowoon Bay. Had trouble finding the surf club. Arrived when the clean-up had begun. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Between 24 and 26 September, 2006, I visited nine beaches, in the Hunter Region, nominated in the Keep Australia Beautiful, Clean Beach Challenge, New South Wales.
Here are some of the things I saw.

Although I had no formal education in visual arts, apart from the lectures, at Wollongong Teachers College, 1962, 1963 and, although I did undertake part of an 'Art Teachers Conversion Course', run by the then Department of Education of NSW, through East Sydney Technical College, I find that I do enjoy, at last, taking formal lessons, in 'Oil Painting for Beginners', at the Hazelhurst Art Gallery, Gymea, in southern Sydney.

My approach to my annual stint as judge in the Keep Australia Beautiful, Clean Beach Challenge Competition, is that I have no particular knowledge or skills related to the infrastructure that 'runs' the beach, or the flora and fauna that affect the beach, or of the ocean and its behavour that draws people to that beach.
I just want to find the beach that strikes me as being beautiful, safe, accessible, enjoyable and clean.
