Che Kiat had learned drawings in the 90's at the Federation of Art Societies when it was located at Churched Street. He studied oil painting at the NAFA some years ago. I am delighted that he now know how to work with acrylic medium.

Exhibition News - 9th Teochew Art Exhibition

I have selected this painting for the 9th Teochew Art Exhibition 2007, the exhibition will be held from 20 Nov to 2 Dec, 2007 at the Ngee Ann Cultural Centre at Teochew Building, Tank Road, Singapore. This exhibition is one of the cultural activities organized by the Ngee Ann Cultural Centre. It provides an opportunity for the artists to exhibit and promote their arts in Singapore. Hundreds of paintings will be exhibited in this exhibition. All are welcome. Free admission.

I installed this painting on the side wall leading to my room.

Painting Title: May You Be Well and Happy 1, 1996
Medium: Acrylic on canvas. Size: 72 x 102cm.

This painting was illustrated in the exhibition art book: Prabhakara - Recent Paintings on page 27 with the following texts: "In the couse of painting this, I was going through metta (loving kindness) meditation. I recalled good and positive thoughts and wished everyone to be well and happy. Past experiences and present circumstances seemed to merge, the boundaries between them seemed to dissolve and my remembrance of trees, earth and sky seemed to merge into a unified rhythm of shapes and colours."

I painted this painting "Autumn River" in 1999. I take it out from my collection to enjoy it for a few days. The painting is not frmaed, it is stretched and sides painted. Yesterday I varnished it. I love it very much.
