Pam In China

Adopting Parent/English Teacher/1st blog finding Xiao Qing

A Snow Baby

Sunday it started snowing again and by Monday morning we had a good four or five inches. We stayed in, but made a snow baby on top of the air conditioner fan, outside the window. Xiao Qing found her shovel and wanted to knock down my Snow Baby, but I wouldn't let her. We used raisins for eyes and buttons, string for a mouth, a peanut for the nose and a cup from Xiao Qing's tea set for a hat.

We are on the fifth floor and this is our view from the living room window....now you know why I like going to New Zealand with Becky:)

Excellent use of the resources at hand!

Your snowman is darling and the size makes it seem miles away, an optical illusion of sorts, ha, ha. It's going from 42 degrees (early evening) to 6 degrees right after midnight, that's quite a difference in temperatures. We are also expecting very high winds and snow, so it's going to be pretty terrible around here for a little while. I'm going to stay inside until it gets warmer! I think I'll share some hot chocolate with you, only mine won't be minty. I do have an old homemade marshmellow to drop in it, that'll be fun. Stay warm! love, Valerie

the other night in the news here there was a piece about China and all the snow.
It focused on the Chinese New Year, and all the folks trying to get to their "homes" from the cities for a visit.
There was one place where 200,000 people were stranded in a train station or an airport???
Anyway, enjoy making snow figures! the snow baby is precious.

Pam --

With all the news of the snow in China and how some regions are suffering, I hope that you are warm and cosy in your fifth floor cabin. We've got plenty of snow in Wisconsin, but it is supposed to snow here! In fact, today is the snow festival and we are getting ready for ice sculpture, snow slide and plenty of hot cocoa. Please stay warm and take care of all your babies.

Suzanne
