We're Marching!!!

Xiao Qing started school on Monday. It's a small private classroom instead of a 'real' school, but its perfect for her. There are five people in her class, so she says....but really we're not sure. She loves the number 'five' lately. Everything is five; five days, five ponies, five children, five this and five that.

The school has two classrooms on the fourth floor of a building near the park. It is very near our home, which is a real plus. We take her there between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. Her teacher meets her downstairs at the gate. Yea!!! I climb enough stairs, living on the fifth floor.

The first day she cried. The tears were huge and rolled slowly down her cheeks. This type of crying grabs the heart of any mom, and these children know it. But, I was brave, her dad was brave, and Jeff ( a good friend) was brave and we walked away, letting her take a step, on her own, towards life.

The second day she learned to march. This is China and everyone marches. Yi, er, san, si......

Today is day three....I'm thrilled that she is so happy. When I started first grade, I cried for my mom each and every day for three weeks. Sorry Mom!!!

Congratulations Xiao Qing, on becoming a real school girl, how wonderful. It's good to step out on your own, I am sure you will thrive there. Way to go Mom, Dad and Jeff, for being so brave, it's not easy to set your little bird free for even a moment, you did well. Love, Valerie
