Pam In China

Adopting Parent/English Teacher/1st blog finding Xiao Qing

The Beast!

On Munson Highway between Milton, FL and Munson, FL, there's a small gas station on the left (if you're traveling towards Munson). It's one of those country marts, where you can gas up, get a cold drink, and enjoy some good ole' American junk food, like Cheetoes, yummy!!

If these particular items don't grab your attention, then look up and you'll be face to face with the beast, smiling down at you. I think the owner must have a part-time taxidermy business or something. You'll find deer galore, and fish too!

What's all this have to do with China?

Next to where Xiao Qing was born at the Women's Hospital in Gong Yi, Henan Province, there's a small shop that sells Chinese junk food, not so cold drinks, and if you walk inside and look up there's the beast, smiling down at you. He looks just like the one in Milton, except he's a little lopsided. I think he lost part of his rack. But, he's got that same glassy eyed, haunting look, that scares me to death, every time I see one of these things. OOOOOOooooo, they just give me the shivers!
