Pam In China

Adopting Parent/English Teacher/1st blog finding Xiao Qing

Kitchen and Bath

One thing Xiao Qing and I love about visiting our You Ai Lu (Frendship Love Road) home is the bathtub. She can play in the tub and I can cook in the kitchen and watch her at the same time. In fact, it's fun just to feed her through this window, while she's in the tub. It makes clean up alot faster after lunch.

For a foreigner, the floor plan of this home is quite unique. Having the cooking portion of the kitchen on the balcony, really helps in the summer to keep the remainder of the house cool.

The house needed a little work and alot of cleaning when we first saw it. Here are some before and after shots of the bathroom, but I still hadn't scrubbed the floor.

We had the drain under the tub repaired, but still the water escapes too quickly and runs behind the toilet and into the main drain. Believe it or not we now have a Chinese washer in this very small bathroom and a shelf for towels and things.

The cooking portion of the kitchen is on the balcony! How ingenious. Sounds like a good place to do the cooking so long as the weather is nice.

Take care and have a good day!

It is and the balcony is enclosed, so that helps, whether rain or shine.

Wow. I need that feature in my house. I could have pancakes cooking and flip them between rinses!

I don't know if you remember me, but we finally got our referral for a daughter. She currently lives in Hefei Children's Welfare Institute and was 1 year old this week. We can't wait to travel to China to experience the culture and beauty and to bring home our daughter.
