Learning to sketch properly

I used to sketch a really long time ago. But just for my own amusement. Never really had much patience to hone the ability. But I have been inspired to rekindle my passion I once had for art thanks to my dear friend her nic, an amazing artist from denmark, a colleague of mine at work who we all affectionately refer to as Dub, my sweetheart who himself is an amazing artist But also more especially my younger brother Eric, who has just been teaching me the proper way to shading. This pic is just a sample of the lesson I had with him. My box is something I am rather not happy with. Was kinda hard I admit. Even though Eric used models to try and get my imagination running. Well I need to learn patience, and I will not complain about not having the opportunity that my brother or sweetheart had by having done art in school. There were masterful artists before art class even existed. If the greatest artists of our time were guys that never went to those classes and mastered the techniques to be so astounding then I have No excuse to be able to also become a good and maybe one day great artist.

With shading you only need to remember the light source mostly.. If all shadows go in right direction it looks quite good
Practice makes perfect.
Sorry if i sound like a know-it-all.. My thumb just refuses to stop typing

But sinse you are young and like to do things in a hurry, you could draw croquis...it´s fast. You draw after a model as fast as you can for app. five minutes!! You can set an alarm! when the alarm sounds you put down the paper and the drawing´s supposed to be finished
