Plotting Data on Linux

Many a times you are faced with a situation where you have some simulation data to be plotted. Most of the times people get away with such situations by making use of plot feature available in ~~MS-Excel~~. while Linux still provides Open office, there are still more fancy softwares available for free.These provide lot more functionality like curve-fitting, analysis, statistical measurements and what not.One such package is LabPlot in KDE environment. It provides features like importing data from spreadsheets, or other file formats from simulations..There is also kst similar to Labplot albeit not with as much varied functionality. There is also the well known gnuplot which is not so easy to use ( no GUI ) but very powerful.These plotting tools can be used for plotting any type of data.One such use is to plot simulation data from measurement of HSPICE, NGSpice etc.With commands like sp2sp (provided by a waveform viwer called gwave) converting the spice simulation data to ascii data files is easy.

Songbird ! the firefox of media players

Today i tried songbird, an open source media player from mozilla camp.This
one promises to be the next big thing in media players.With a lot of functionality,
simplicity and plenty of add-ons I am sure there is not getting bored of this player.
Features like display of wiki,discography and reviews about a track's artist and several
visually appealing skins ( called feathers ) stand out.Among the available add-ons, the
scrolling lyric was the best one.There are even add-ons for displaying the guitar tabs
of the track being played (possible only when you have a well organized media library

)
I tried this both on Win XP and Fedora 10 and there wasn't much difference except that
the fedora version seemed more streamlined with the OS ( or may be am biased towards linux )
All in all , i would say Songbird is the best media player out there right now.

I hate bollywood movies

These are the most common scenes/themes, which make me hate bollywood

1.Stories about NRIs living in US/UK and praising India (why dont they live in india if they love it so much [

] )

2.Thousands of people dancing for silly songs (mostly in a club or in some loaction in UK/US or even a good forign university campus)
3.Showing that Indians only means Punjabi (living in UK of course)
4.The hero , heroine and thier friends own houses that are way too grand compared (like palaces ) to their job profiles shown in movies.
5.Action movie means a lot of Smashing cars and playing with guns wearing black dresses with goggles (ok this has become way too stereo typical )
6.The ultimate point i think is wearing toooooo fashionable clothes that don't suit these so called actors

Michael Jackson Dead, shocking, king of pop, rumor ...

I saw the news sites just now.King of Pop Michael Jackson passed away today due to a reported cardiac arrest.
The king will forever be remembered for his music and dance.
He will keep on inspiring lives even in future. His fame can never
be achieved by any other star.He continues to live in our hearts.

There are celebrities there are stars, there are superstars, there are megastars and then there is Michael Jackson.

Lets pray for the eternal king of music May his soul rest in peace. His dance and music will always keep his legacy alive among admirers. May god bless his soul

The flutterby effect

phsycho thriller, butterrfly effect, review

Normally when i see phsycological thrillers my mind either goes numb or i feel irritated for not being able to follow the plot.But when i saw Butterfly effect last night,by the time the movie ended i felt calm and relaxed.I dont know why it felt like that.Instead of hitting to bed after the movie, i felt like doing some work(at 3:00 AM

) and there i am sitting with my notebook in my hand trying to figure why that circuit (don't worry about what it was

) was functioning unexpectedly.

My mind did not feel any fatigue as i slowy tried solving some equations.

Ok why am i writing all this ?.I dont understand why that movie made my mind so calm and alert at
the same time.Was it my mind saying "OK my life is way too better than the character played by
ashton kutcher.So lets get back to work and not worry about what happened in the movie "??

I dont know why,how but it sure felt good .

Opera 10

opera 10 beta, browser, review

Today i tried the beta version of Opera 10 ( the already cool browser

).Apart from new looks
and low resource usage, this remains the same old Opera 9.x browser.Web pages load a lot faster
compared to Firefox.So when the guys at opera claim it to be the fastest browser, they mean it.As far as the opera turbo feature is concerned, it doesn't help me much.Of course it makes browsing faster but i have bandwidth so i don't need it.I can't comment anything about security features as i cant test them.
I would give it 5/5 points.

All in all Opera 10 rocks !!

Feral children, wierd, shocking

what is this feral child ? well according to the information i gathered(from the web ofcourse), children who are left unattended for a long time since a very young age or children confined to a small space for a long time are called feral children ( or wild children ).Take mowgli as the typical example. How did i land up at this topic ? I was watching the news today and it said that a feral child has been found somewhere in russia who grew up with dogs.The girl behaves like dogs.She barks, laps up food from a plate etc.There have been many cases of feral children that have been reported.Most of them were hoaxes used for getting funds for orphanages,like the indian story of Amala and Kamala

shown in black and wite image is kamala.

Some of the reported cases were genuine like the case about Genie and Oxana Malaya .Click that name to read more.Feral doesnt always mean that the child has grown up among animals.Even absence of humna contact can lead to feral children and genie belongs to that category.

Oxana Malaya was brought up by dogs for 8 years.She behaves like a dog and is trying to become human.Most of the feral children can never become normal because human brain looses the ability to learn and socialize after a certain age.
