Martha vs Wise Woman

, , , , , ,

Welcome! Hola! Guten Tag!
Here's my thought...

Did you ever wonder about all of the kitchen hints spewed by so called experts? I have. What do you really think of them as far as their true value is concerned? I came across this bit of information from a friend down in Tucson. Thanks, Dennis.

Who's opinion would be most helpful to you?

Martha vs Wise Woman

Martha: Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of an ice cream cone to prevent ice cream drips.

Wise Woman: Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete's sake! You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway!

Martha: To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

Wise Woman :Buy Hungry Jack mashed potato mix. Keeps in the pantry for up to a year.

Martha: When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the outside of the cake.

Wise Woman: Go to the bakery! Hell, they'll even decorate it for you!

Martha: If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant 'fix-me-up.'

Wise Woman: If you over-salt a dish while you are cooking, that's too bad. Please recite with me the real woman's motto: 'I made it, you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes!'

Martha: Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

Wise Woman: Celery? Never heard of it!

Martha: Cure for headaches: take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Wise Woman: Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink! All your pains go away!

Martha: Don't throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

Wise Woman: Leftover wine??????????? HELLO!!!!!!!

Good ones, especially about putting an apple in the bag of potatoes. I try to save money by buying a small 5lb bag but still end up throwing some out. I just don't use them up fast enough. Now Hungry Jack is a good idea because you can use a small amount at a time. Plus, buying those frozen stuffed baked potatoes, two to a box, which are quite good.

I learned a couple of things from the helpful Martha Stewart hints. The Wise Woman comments are hilarious.

You did a great job on your Post comment box. I just  your little hummingbird.

Hi, PainterWoman, Thanks for dropping by, I'm glad you found something helpful in these. I love to read hints that have a basis in some logic, even if they're meant to be funny.

You are welcome Pat. The tools were given to me by Linda via Tamil, so the true thanks goes to them.

I have found that most of the helpful hints I have received from my email buddies really work. I especially like the green and/or cost saving ones.

Then, credit where due...Annette and Linda and Tamil, I "THANK YOU", all! I love it when a plan comes together!

'me giggling' ... I love the Maxine character, and you know what they say... we're all composed of both male and female sides (loose interpretation), so who knows? gotta love men!
