Under Construction

Please excuse the look of my blog! I've finally decided to change it a bit, and it's going to take me some time to get a grasp on this CSS stuff. My brain is on information overload thanks to LeeHarvey and dragon_harrower--I might just short circuit. :bomb:

It's my birthday!Happy Woman's Day?

I love the banner! That's great for a first attempt at a banner. :D

pauliticalmind 5. March 2009, 21:16

stop mocking me, darg

Casey² 5. March 2009, 21:17

 I'm not! I'd tell you if it looked like shit. P: You do need to blend your pictures though. P:

pauliticalmind 5. March 2009, 21:18

I know...how do I do that? I actually just emailed my brother that question, but he's probably "working" :D

Casey² 5. March 2009, 21:24

It'd be hard with the picture you have to blend it effectively (I'm too impatient to blend, nor do I have the skills to do it well anyway), but the idea is to take the photo editor of choice (I use GIMP since it's free) and find a blur or clone option on it. From there just blur or clone the lines until they somewhat match. I'd personally just resize the image (Photofiltre is great, free, and simple to use) and crop out what I want of it. It's what I did with my banner. :D Unless I'm mistaken, your banner is at the default 170px high right now. You have plenty of space to work with. :D

Angeliki 5. March 2009, 21:36

what is blend the picture? p:

I like the banner very much too!

I am so glad we have Casey around... (brainy and pretty too! )

Casey² 5. March 2009, 21:40

It's how I refer to removing the tiling look of the pictures. I'm going to look and see what the size of the picture is. That'll give me a better idea of what to do with it.

Casey² 5. March 2009, 21:44

It's only 283px wide. That's why it's tiling. Alright blending isn't going to work on that. Disregard part of my earlier comments.

Angeliki 5. March 2009, 21:45

I hate to sound so ignorant but what is "the tiling look of the pictures?"

you don't have to answer if it is a long thingie.. most probably I will find another question out of an answer!

I think I should stick with my day job p:

Casey² 5. March 2009, 21:52

 It's not a stupid question. If you look at the banner, the pictures are separated and look like tiles, hence the "tiling" reference. When someone uses pictures for a background, it tiles (just like a floor) to fill all the space that it needs to. If that picture isn't set up right for the background, it shows the lines where it tiles across the screen.

Angeliki 5. March 2009, 22:11

Homer: Doh!
but of course!!

I know for sure that
I can spot a wrong tiles arrangement in a second (part of my job  ) but in a banner  oy! Am I so thankful to have Casey???
I hope you realize how much I appreciate you being around

:o: thank you ,I got it now .

Casey² 5. March 2009, 22:20

hahah. I'm glad that I'm appreciated. :D

Jen 5. March 2009, 22:26

I'm glad you are giving your page a new look. Much less expensive than shoe shopping, and more people will appreciate it. I can't see the new changes with this version of Opera Mini, but I will keep checking up on it when I get back to normal here soon.

I don't get anything about coding. You are all gods/godesses in my eyes. :o:

Angeliki 5. March 2009, 22:26

always!

Casey² 5. March 2009, 22:29

That's one thing I dislike about Opera Mini. I can't see any of the css changes.

Jen 5. March 2009, 22:31

I can but I have to change my settings. But I'm on an old version. So.... I shall wait. P:

Phantom2 5. March 2009, 22:32

Oh, I get it....elephants in the wilderness  Very clever and appropriate these days!

Casey² 5. March 2009, 22:35

I'm using Opera 4.something. I should try Opera 3 and see if that helps.

Jen 5. March 2009, 22:48

If I change settings on Opera 4 - take off mobile view. -add in full page view. - change to hi-def graphics. Then save and reload. I can see the page, albeit, in pieces, but I can see it in my mind's eye!

Casey² 5. March 2009, 22:51

Homer: Doh! I do recall the "see full view" on the bottom. I feel like a dork now.

Jen 5. March 2009, 22:54

You know coding. Thou shalt never feel dorky!

Casey² 5. March 2009, 23:02

No, I know a few overrides. It's like knowing a few key phrases and some of the basic phonetics of German. P:

Jen 5. March 2009, 23:09

It's like me and Spanish then. I know how to say a hundred or so words and the fluid sentence " yes, of course, I speak a little bit of Spanish, every now and then...".

Sounds fancy. :eyes: but it's not. P:

Casey² 5. March 2009, 23:13

Exactly it. Although I really do know a little German, French, Spanish, and a handful of other languages. Cheap entertainment. :left: *wonders if saying "shit" in four languages is special or not*

Angeliki 5. March 2009, 23:23

not to mention Italian... you do know sentenses ,no?

Casey² 5. March 2009, 23:29

One phrase in Italian. Shit on a stick- merda es un bastone. My German is better than any of the rest. Although I can say "son of a bitch" in Hebrew and order anywhere between one and ten beers in Russian.

pauliticalmind 5. March 2009, 23:46

pauliticalmind 5. March 2009, 23:46

@phantom...i wondered who would be the first to comment

although maybe i should have posted this one

donkey Pictures, Images and Photos

Casey² 5. March 2009, 23:54

 I doubt it'd improve mine, unless you want to hear, "Scheiße!" "ben zona" or "peeva, lots more peeva!"

Phantom2 5. March 2009, 23:59

Looks more likely everyday I'm afraid.

Angeliki 6. March 2009, 00:24

my foreign languages improve after I have more than 6oz , I go back to Greek
which does not happen often!

poor donkey,
I hope he is OK, I can not imagine how they expect small cretures to move such a great load ...

pauliticalmind 6. March 2009, 03:19

awww...he's okay. that poor donkey just took on a job too great

pauliticalmind 6. March 2009, 03:25

Hi Jen! I didn't forget about you--just been busy today. and btw, I'd MUCH rather be shoe shopping. and with the right pair, who knows how many people would notice?

pauliticalmind 6. March 2009, 14:22

almost finished--i can see the light!

Jen 6. March 2009, 14:31

 good to hear.

Casey² 6. March 2009, 15:12

This one looks much better! :D

pauliticalmind 6. March 2009, 15:18

Thank you! I think I'll leave it like this for a while

Casey² 6. March 2009, 15:22

It's a great start. :D Before too long you'll be tweaking all sorts of stuff.

Thanks, Angeliki! I had no idea this was even a holiday. Upon further research, a new blog was inspired  Differences aside, I always appreciate your comments and friendship
