First day at Pan De Azúcar Public Secondary School - Primer día en Liceo de Pan de Azúcar (Eng-Esp)

, , ,

Today was my first day of classes as teacher in Pan de Azúcar. I had 3 groups of first level today, 12 years old boys and girls. All the groups are different (as groups), but it was a pleassure to work with them this first day.
I had a little problem, and is I can't remember names easily, and there are an average of 30 students per class, and is a nightmare for me in some moments. But I hope to know them well.

To work in a public space is a little different than in a private one, in some facts. But children are children, and they face the same problems, have same dreams, same questions, and are ready to learn no matter the place they are to study. I think I will learn a lot from this experience.

I truly admire the ones who become teatchers!! I do not have the right personality to teach and I am not a patient person.

Teatchers are so importent to the children as an alternative grown up and someone to look up to! especially nowadays when there are so many brooken families and missing parents.
It is a big responsibility To have the children-our future in Ones care!!
One of the most importent works we can have!

My best to you!!

I really thank you, Agneta! Your words are very important to me.

You are right, it's a big responsability to be teacher, and not an easy work (well, there are not easy work at all). Each student is different, and because of the factors you indicate, some of them are difficult to keep in class without disturb. Patience is important yes, and also to try to "read" their attitudes. It's like psychology job, I think. And I feel happy when I see good reactions from many of them.

But one of my great experiences is when I see eyes that show happiness for learning a new thing every day. That is my treasure. Telling this is good to myself for not forgeting my goals.

Thank you again!

I think good learning is a lot about to make the children feel safe and secure. To make a clima in the classroom wich is full of trust. To show them respect and give them borders at the same time.

Yes one of the most difficult and important jobs indeed! You seam to have the rights touhgts about that, I can see that in the words you write!!

 Like every job, I try to innovate every day... and dialogs like this is good to me

Unluckily, today I had my first wrong day there. One of the students made something very violent in one of my class awww In moments like that it's difficult to act wisely, and I have to count with authorites of the college. It's a pity, because that group is very nice, and most of the children are excellent! I try to imagine in what situation are the boys who do things like that. What kind of families have...

It's like you say:

there are so many brooken families

and sometimes that is one of the reaction...

Agneta Muhr 18. May 2009, 21:21

Yes, unfortunatly it sometimes become that way! And as you say, there surely are a reason! Some kids seams to think that bad reactions from the world around is better than no reaction at all, and than they do horrible and violent things to make us see them, It is really sad, and we can not always help! And you have to think of the group to, and take care of there reactions. I will think about you and wish you luck!
You are a reflected teacher but only human, don`t forget that!:worried:
