Uruguay - (esp-eng)

, ,

One of the things I like most, is to know about places, countries and people. I found that I never told about Uruguay, the country where I live, so, here I go...

Uruguay: how we are. where we come from.

Uruguay is located in South America, between Argentina and Brazil. Limits also with the River Plate and the Atlantic ocean to the south.

The official name of the country is Oriental Republic of Uruguay, it has a democratic-presidential government's system , its official language is Spanish and although the Catholic religion prevails, the country doesn't possess official religion.

Has one of the most temperate climates in the continent: the average in summer is of 22ºC and 13 ºC in winter.

Most of the inhabitants are descending of European: Spaniards, Italian as predominant, but also of many Russian, French, German, Swiss collectives ; and of other continents, as Africa.

Uruguayan people spread to be enough conservative, generally kind. It's a prove of it the treatment that receive today people that come from other countries, and that they have come in the past, people who have settled down in the territory like our people's part, without problems. Uruguay conserves that spirit, and this exposes it as a country open to all who visit us.

The tourism is an activity fomented in the whole territory of the country, in spite of not being the traditional (based on agriculture and services) activity. The internal tourism is fomented too much, and the south part of the country is destination of many Argentinean, Brazilian, European and North American tourists' every year.

Visions from my window

, , , ...

I feel the smell of coffee cups
filling the air of my home.
It's early in the morning
and need a reason for my soul.

As I can see people walking in the street,
making plans, building life...
Having dreams to follow every time
when times get longer... but not enough.

They can't see the road.
I think they can't share a vision.
Even when I try to explain reasons
I find my words get lost.

And there are children too.
They seem happy since they play with rain.
A game of life, I think, A game to lose,
times that are wild for all of us.

So I stay inside my walls today.
I keep my feelings warm by my side.
Coffee smells great this morning,
and it gave me spirit to translate the world today.

Pequeñas cosas que nos hacen grandes - Small things that they make us big (esp-eng)

, , , ...

Expresar gratitud, y recibir gratitud.

Small things that they make us big.

We live in a material and materialistic world. The money and the possessions make force in all that we decide, what we have, and almost in what we are. A profile of greatness, in the current world, it can be defined by the money that we possess or not.

However, I would like to invite you to see how many small things we have around, and how big they can make us.

Sometimes I think of my daughter, and in some "children" attitudes that move my heart. Other so many ones take time to observe people that pass to my side. I also contemplate amazed the imposing universe that contains us. I have taken out many lessons through my life, from everything that.

The happy face of a son, when he/she receives a gift. Many times it is very simple, perhaps just a wooden cube. But his/her smile, something so small, it makes us big.
Or the happiness they feel when they give us a flower, or a drawing, and their eyes shine with happiness when seeing us so happy. It doesn't cost anything, but it makes us big.

The smile of a friend, of somebody that loves us and to who we love. It warms our heart. It is something so simple, but it makes us so big.

To express gratitude, and to receive gratitude. Such a simple expression, but it makes us big to say thank you.

To take some minutes a day to contemplate what surrounds us...
A fresh dawn, with the birds singing.
An autumn landscape, or of spring.
The sea and their waves hitting the rocks.
The little snails on the sea shore.
An evening.
The soft rain.
The moon in the sky.
A replete sky of stars.
It can take just some minutes to contemplate them, but it is worth more than all our time.

The hug of a friend.
The comfort that cures.
The fair words in each moment.
A kiss full with love.
The affection that is expressed without words.
To say that we love and to know that they love us.
To share a moment.
A prospective letter.
A time among friends.
The warmth of the home.
How many small and simple things we have every day to our side, and they make us so big!

Perhaps, then, those people that spend all the time in accumulating material things: money, properties, and they give no time to theirselves to contemplate and enjoy all these simple and small things, are really poor. Because so much desire of wealth makes them poor, because that whole desire doesn't allow them to enjoy the enormous, abundant blessing, unpayable of contemplating the things that really make us big.

I hope not to end up being this way. That my necessity to give the best for sustenance and physical necessities to my family and myself, don't cloud my eyes and it makes me lose the small things that really make us big.
