Better times, worse times

, , , ...

Few minutes ago, I was shopping. Few customers were talking about past and present times.
Most of them were saying that past times were better. "We have more technology, and the access to that technology is a good thing. But we are insecure and cannot left the doors unlocked when we are outside home".

I've been thinking about that while coming back home. It's true, we have better technology, ways of communication, access to resources and many things are easier: travel, knowing people, and so on. I love technology, in fact, I use it as much as I can. Computers and internet, to consider something, give me the chance to work, knowing people, prepare my classes.... But I know, all that progress seems against us, when we see we are bad communicators, we use things to cause damage to others, and we have forget our first pillar in society: family.

Anyway, this theme can bring different opinions between people.
What do you consider about it?

Disfrutar y hacer el bien

, , , ...

Enjoy and do the good.

These days I was reading and drawing conclusions from my studies. I compared it to how people live life ... and indeed that more than one will conclude that most people doesn't know how to live.
The reading was from Ecclesiastes, and says something that should be part of our essence in life:
"12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 (King James Version (1769) )"

In recent times we have been saturated with disappointing, sad and unhappy news, often for reasons beyond our hands, but sometimes by man's own action. After some personal experiences (of which some of you are aware, I have heard a thousand times the word DESTINY. And the truth, after all my time analyzing the issue, that word can't exist the way as they say. If it is a "gift from God that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all its work," no place for destiny could truncate life, put us sad and we resent being. The man himself is responsible for most of our suffering. For a thousand reasons: War, crime, drug use, violence, indifference, lack of interest in others.

But it's good to know that principle. We hold the ability to enjoy all it has been given to us (which is much more than we think), but also do good to all those around us, and extend that opportunity to enjoy them all. In small stocks, a little each day. But above all, be sure it will soon be to a degree never imagined, and will benefit all good people.

What can we do to be active in this?

Back home...

The world is constantly moving, changing. I've heard in the news about how many uruguayan people who lives in other countries are planning to come back home. Economical facts, roots, and many factors are the reasons.
Between 2000-2002 many people went to other countries for some opportunities. Even when that economical situation touched my family, at home we were agree with fight the moment in this place. There are problems in all the world, and my way of thinking is that moving is change a problem for another one. I'm not telling about better or worse places to live, I mean we are part of this place, we have our family here and know how the things happen in this place. No bad situation last forever. I knew lot of people who were not prepared to go too far, and the trip was a dissaster.

Of course, this is my point of view, and respect everyone's. The news of today made me feel we didn't choose wrong. We are not a rich family (and I don't want that), but our situation is better than those times. My job is more stable, my daughter is growing in a peaceful place (until now), my family is united. I noticed this last thing yesterday, when some friends prepared a nice surprise for us: a picnic to celebrate our aniversary (the aniversary is on 16 of march, but couldn't celebrate with friends).

I hope all that uruguayan people can come back to this place again. Gov' is planning to give some money to those who want to return here, and maybe that will be useful to start again.

And I hope, over all the things, that every human in the world could find their place. And if they had still family, to keep it united and happy!

Uruguay - (esp-eng)

, ,

One of the things I like most, is to know about places, countries and people. I found that I never told about Uruguay, the country where I live, so, here I go...

Uruguay: how we are. where we come from.

Uruguay is located in South America, between Argentina and Brazil. Limits also with the River Plate and the Atlantic ocean to the south.

The official name of the country is Oriental Republic of Uruguay, it has a democratic-presidential government's system , its official language is Spanish and although the Catholic religion prevails, the country doesn't possess official religion.

Has one of the most temperate climates in the continent: the average in summer is of 22ºC and 13 ºC in winter.

Most of the inhabitants are descending of European: Spaniards, Italian as predominant, but also of many Russian, French, German, Swiss collectives ; and of other continents, as Africa.

Uruguayan people spread to be enough conservative, generally kind. It's a prove of it the treatment that receive today people that come from other countries, and that they have come in the past, people who have settled down in the territory like our people's part, without problems. Uruguay conserves that spirit, and this exposes it as a country open to all who visit us.

The tourism is an activity fomented in the whole territory of the country, in spite of not being the traditional (based on agriculture and services) activity. The internal tourism is fomented too much, and the south part of the country is destination of many Argentinean, Brazilian, European and North American tourists' every year.

The same road

, ,

One of the feelings that awakes everytime I log in Opera, is the one related to not-being alone. Sometimes comes to my mind the idea that somewhere, perhaps never knowing exactly where, there's a friend or someone I know, living, knowing me, sharing experiences here.

And it's more special when the other one is conected, is Online. At that moment, I think there are no frontiers, no limits or lines that separe us, because the simple fact of being conected at the same time to the same line is like share the same road, for a while.

Once again I must say, thanks for sharing this steps all along this road. And it's a pleasure to be here.

Time zones

, , ,

Recently, I made the mistake to think in local time, being connected to Opera. The travel around the world (using Opera in my case), is full of crazy things, and great moments, but I can learn too, and the last thing to learn was that fact: the time is not the same in the world in the same moment smile
Well, thats not a big discovering, but I used to forget it in a chat or sending messages to my friends from USA, United Kingdom, Vietnam, India, and all other places... I could say "good morning" and there is late in the night! So, I want to say sorry if I do it again, but now I'm taking care. There's a program I take all the time with me: Country codes. It gives lots of information from countries in the world, and it helps me to know the real time in different places. The program can be downloaded at http://www.izoxzone.com/
One thing to remember about Uruguay: in summer (and right now) the timezone is changed, from
GMT -3:00 to GMT -2:00. It let us not to waste energy and (the more I like) to be in the beach until 10pm lol
So, to all my friends:
Good morning/afternoon/night!!!!

To the unknown man: 6 minutes 33 seconds to meditation. - English - Spanish

, , , ...

Today is a gray day.
I've been collecting some impressions of the world through many ways. While a deep melody warms my home, I dedicate some minutes to think about these questions I made myself all through the years.

Who am I? What are we doing here? Yes, my parents educated me so well about the role we have in this world, and I have accepted that teaching. But thinking about their words, and considering some conversations with a friend I made in this world a few days ago, I'm falling into this state once again.

The melody pushes me to travel with my mind, to left this room and fly.

We are not alone in this world. Surely mankind is becoming colder to others, but we all came from the same road of life.

Millions and millions of lives breathing the same air, recycling the water that falls from cloudy skies and feeds rivers, traveling through time and earth. Are we alone?

I'm looking from this higher place of mind... Who's that unknown man right there? Is he loving, suffering, fighting for rights, searching a reason, exploring, or making questions like I do? What does peace mean for him? What does justice mean for him? Is him in the correct time to live? Has he even considered how is the world beyond the horizon?

Millions of lives and each one with different stories, different memories to hold and different impressions of the world that holds us. If we made a book, how many pages we need to write all those stories? Millions of "years"?

So, when I find people who think about the same things, I think is like Twin stars in this universe, atracting each others to shine, and make this travel brighter. And if twin stars became millions this place will be nice.

Wait...! I can see the unknown man once again. He's rising his eyes to heaven. He draws a smile! Yes, life is brighter tonight: a new star has been born!

(I always transform myself when I listen this song. To the unknown man of Vangelis is one of those powerful pushes to meditate. My greetings to all the Unknown men around the earth!)

Al hombre desconocido: 6 minutos 33 segundos de meditación.
--------------
